Offline | They allways used to advertise in the Mini Magazines and were mod freindly understanding the usual kit like alloys and exhausts. They were no use to me at the time couldnt touch my qoute! A lot of risk taker type companys can qoute wel but load the excess to compensate. |

Offline | Yeah i've heard of Highway!!!!!!....My sons bike was insured with them from new, a special offer through the dealers, which seemed to be pretty good until the docs came through and found out the excess was £500. Ok my son is 17 and its a brand new bike but if i knew about the excess then i would not have had it....anyway we had to live with it and hopefully would not have to claim!....WRONG.. 6 weeks from new it was stolen then recovered absalutley trashed, the assessor wrote it off,(pre theft condition was mint with 300 miles, not even run in), Highway contacted us last week with an offer £400 off cost price plus £500 excess, thats 900 quid lost for 6 weeks ownership and 50% of the cost price. I am actually in battle with them and just about to get the insurance ombudsman involve as i feel this is disgusting.Sorry for carrying on but it wound me up, and as you may have guessed I will NEVER do business with Highway again. ![]() EB/W - CHILLI PK - VIS PK - S/ROOF - MFSW - TRIP - NOW WITH CLEAR REARS - FRONT SPOTS - CD CHANGER - STRIPES - JC SIGNATURES |

Offline | By the way if you have got 4 years or more NCD then i suggest you try Esure as I did for my MCS and saved £390 on the next best quote. Plus with ref to my previous post my friend owns his own accident management company and he deals with Highway quite offen and he says they are good for insuring anything but when it comes to pay out they are the worst and have issued against them many a time and won and he said to me to refuse their offer and tell them to replace the bike direct or for them to find an exact conditined bike of the same age and type for what they are offering. So i suggest if you do need to claim stick it out till you get what you feel is right. I'll keep you posted on what happens. Offline | I was insured with them years ago and made a claim, I can't remember the details), but I do remember that they suck, a lot. Sorry I haven't got any details to back that up with! Having said that, all insurance companies i've had to deal with or slimy, good for nothing (except taking lots of my money) rip-off merchants. 2002 Porsche Boxster |

| UberGeek | Adrian Flux...?? Ha ha ha ha ha... Ahem <regains composure> Yes, the so called 'performance specialists' are well established. Not quite a smooth polished operator, but fine if you don't mind spending a lot of time on the phone. Incidentally, their prices are pretty poor too. I needed a quote for my Supra - mk4 Jap import, modified a fair bit, big BHP, and (I thought) a car right up the 'Flux' street. They quoted over £5000. Now then - Direct Line (big mainstream provider) - I was expecting them to not be interested, given the cars modifications and BHP. They swallowed it right up, mods and all, and quoted a little over £2000. Hmm.... I had to use my NCB on the Supra, so the MINI has got it's own policy (with *zero* NCB). As a 28y/o guy doing 120 miles/day, the best quote came from MINI Insurance themselves at £1100 (and the 23y/o Mrs is covered too) My $0.02 Lee |

| MINI2 Newbie | Adrian Flux aka Highway I was insured with them on my first clio 16v. Mod friendly and reasonably cheap. NIGHTMARE WHEN CLAIMING Ok so I'm to blaim for the accident. I came off a country road and slipped into a ditch. I couldnt get the car out although in reasonably good condition the verge was to steep. Called the insurance gave a grid reference they said they were picking it up. Called back the next day Adrian Flux said they had recovered the car and it was being taken to a garage. 2 Days later I got a call from the police to say my car was still in the ditch and had been broken into, the leather etc had been nicked. I called AF back the following day and they apologised and said they definatly had my car now. I get a call from the police 12 hours later to say someone had set my car on fire Not happyThe claim took 8 months to resolve, meanwhile I was paying £230/month on the car loan. I got half the value back which covered some of the loan and I was left carless. I would never use them again. I am currently insured with Liverpool Victoria and so far no complaints. |

Offline | Adrian Flux are pretty big in the kit car world, I had my Caterham with them for 5 years without any problems, though I never had to claim. There have however been many posts on the Caterham forum (www.blatchat.com) entitled 'Flux Sux', I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Not sure whether my current Caterham insurers MSM (www.msminsurance.co.uk) are any good for modded MINIs? |

Offline | I imagine you wouldn't have a problem with most insurance companies until you claim. The thing that differentiates them is what happens when you do claim. I've had some pretty misrable times trying to get my cars fixed while having the pleasure of driving a 950cc Corsa or such like . And i'm talking months for something that I could have probably done myself in a week. When it comes to them paying back some of the extontionate fee they charge you, they suddenly become slimey, badly managed and unhelpful. Having said that, Tesco Insurance have been really helpful so far when my mates Mum reversed into my 1 month old MCS ![]() 2002 Porsche Boxster |
