Offline | Battery disconnect Originally, Minis Cooper S go to the dealer with a battery disconnect switch installed, harness in trunk and under hand-brake booth. I understand that when the Minis are prepped for delivery, this normally gets remove and discarded. I am just preparing my car for the www.targanewfoundland.com rally. I would like to reinstall this switch as a safety device. My dealer has no more of these harnesses /switches left. Does anybody has one and would like to part from it for a “Good Cause”? |

Offline | MINIs for all markets come equipped with a battery safety switch that will disconnect the battery from the fuel pump and engine electronics and activate the interior doors locks, interior lights and set the flashers on, in case of a serious accident that would deploy the airbags. Do a search on this site to find out more specific information. Or were you asking about something different? |

Offline | hes talking about something different...originally, the MINI's would come to the dealership with a battery disconnect switch installed....the battery could be connected or disconnected via a remote switch inside the car. this was a safety measure, as well as a way to keep the battery from running down. MINI's now do not come like this (at least here in the US) i believe that is now removed at port. Offline | there wouldnt be any reason to have to disconnect the automatic switch....as it only activates in the case of a serious accident. you can figuratively think about this manual, pre-prep battery cutoff switch as an easier substitute for disconnecting one of the actual cables from the battery.
