| MINI2 Regular | I looked at adgrimes' post with his new car and the old one and now I'm second guessing my order for BRG/ black roof. I want to get green, and I'm getting the sunroof so I figured with the black roof it'd blend in the best.......but the white roof looks so good, can you guys htink of any pros/cons to the white or black roof? I mean, it'd suck to get my car and regret anything about it after two months of waiting. thanks, amir BRG/B S |

| MINI2 Regular | White is classic A white roof is a classic look with the BRG. In addition it is much cooler during the summer months as the white tends to reflect the heat while the black tends to absorb the heat. 2003 MINI Cooper S, Dark Silver w/White Roof, Sport Package, Auto Climate Control, 17S-Lites, Rain Sensing Wiper, MFSW, Grey Space Cloth Interor. |

Offline | I got mine with a white roof because I thought the contrast looked nicer, and the green is rather dark and blends with the black roof too easily. I also have the sunroof, and like the look. Of course, nothing beats looking at pictures and deciding for yourself. There are plenty of pictures of BRGs with different combos (with/without sunroof, black/white roof) online. Offline | White, definitely. White roofs just look better on MINIs (and classic Minis, too) Additionally, a white roof on a MINI provides the "floating roof" affect where the roof appears to be placed on top of the full glass structure of the windows (i.e. unlike most other cars, the roof pillars are hidden on a MINI and the white roof emphasizes that design feature). + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | Here's the best picture I could find of Basil. Unfortunately, I don't have one that shows the sunroof very well, because it's hard to see from normal viewing angles. "Wallace" : '08 Laser Blue Cooper S Clubman "Gromit" : '07 Sparkling Silver Cooper S Sidewalk convertible |

| MINI2 Senior | I never really understood the idea behind the black roof (except on a black car of course). The white roof is intended to contrast with the body color, which it does well. The black roof in contrast looks like an unfinished paint job. I may be old-fashioned, but I say if you want a two-tone paint scheme, the second color should be white. |

Offline | See thats exactly why I would never get a white roof. To me white makes the MINI tri-colored. You have the body color, the glass section and wheel arches (plus other assorted trim) is black and then the white roof. This even more true for those who go with dark tint on their windows. Thats why they make choices though ... there is no rightor wrong just what makes you happy. |

Offline | I don't think you should go for the white or black roof, but should go for the brg roof - if you like the colour, then have it all over! Like mine. But then I have the One and the dealer said it would have cost me £800 to have the roof a different colour. |

| #1647 of 1960 | I recommend a white roof with BRG as well. My last MINI was BRG/BRG, and (had I kept it) I think I would have put a white checkered roof on it, white mirror caps & maybe white wheels to brighten it up. Someone termed the BRG/BRG as a "stealth MINI look" - which I think means it doesn't stand out much. I always felt it looked too dark, and didn't take advantage of the playfulness that works on MINIs that would look out of place on most other cars. (like contrasting roofs, graphics, etc.) The only drawback to a white roof w/sunroof is if you wanted to install a graphic that allowed the roof color to show through - with black you can treat the sunroof as back & go right over it. On the other hand, several of the roof graphic suppliers have solid sheet graphics that can go on any roof, special sunroof graphics including solid white, and perforated graphics, so there's always a way to do whatever you want. I also started noticing a problem with paint chips showing up gray on the BRG. If the dealer offers paint protection, think about getting it. |

Offline | Ok I'll be the contrarian and urge you to get the black roof. While it's true that British Racing Green and White is a classis combo, it's also true that the perfectly lovely metallic green the MINI is available in is NOT British Racing Green. So white roof or not, you can't get that "classic" combo. With the black roof, however, you really amplify the stylishness of the dark green metallic. Much the same way the darkness of Velvet Red looked really classy with Black, the subtle contrast of the dark green with the black really works. So its a less cartoonish, more elegant combination. Offline | Better yet get a Black roof with sunroof, perfect in the Woodland Hills heat all year round. Have mine open 90% of the time I'm driving. And one must admit a sunroof looks a bit more integrated in a Black roof. Love that Shropshire cheese ![]() |

Offline | Take a look at the pics of the color combos in the galleries and go with what you like best. That said, my personal preference is BRG/B. I really like the subtle contrast between the two colors. If you want something flashier, go with the BRG/W. Offline | I saw a BRG S in my dealers, the roof was BRG as well as the wheel arches and sideskirts and it looked amazing, so I say do that, it made the car look soooo much wider and lower you could also get yourself some nice BRG tints ![]() |
