Offline | Our friends with blue flashy lights! Funny thing happened on M40 Southbound last Wednesday evening. Just as I pulled onto the M40, a Police Ford Maverick (a what, I hear you say!!) joined me, but wasn't capable of 70mph so he disappeared into the distance! Being sensible, I activated the cruise control at around 70mph give or take 1 or 2mph... A little further up, I noticed a Police Volvo V70 (Yes, they still make them too!) who was doing around 69mph (as they do!). I pootled past and they were gorping at my MINI as I went by. Seconds later, they pull out behind me and then slowly overtake me, again staring at the car. I though nothing of it until they pulled directly in front of me then into the "Slow" lane (Neither time indicating...). I don't know what made me, but I took a look at the roof of their car and saw a constant red light, to which I got eye contact with the driver and asked if he wanted me over to which he nodded. On came the blues (rather unnecessary I felt, but hey) and down came my (tinted) window. "Just wondering what colour your rear lights show when they're functioning, sir" he asked, so I obligingly showed him the brake lights and fog lights in action. His reasoning behind pulling me over? He thought I was an Unmarked Police Vehicle as my Clear Rear Lights reflected blue in the sun light! Now then, I ask you - How many Black MINI Cooper's with White Viper Stripes, 17" AC Schnitzer Alloys, Red Interior and Spot lights do you genuinley believe the Police Force to run as squad cars???!! Wasn't a problem, as I did everything he asked and wasn't cocky, which surprised me as I've heard that some of you guys have been fined and warned by the Boys in blue about them! I must've got the nice Copper who already had his target for the day!!! Just one more thing - MAKE SURE YOU FIT THE RED REFLECTIVE STRIPS TO YOUR CAR IF YOU HAVE CLEAR REAR LIGHTS. Other lights are available and I can help if anybody's looking for them! Regards Richard @ Damon Hill MINI, Warwick 01926 333814 (MINI Cooper, Cosmos Black, Tartan Red Cloth/Leather, Harman Kardon, 6CD, Auxilliary Driving Lamps, CLEAR REAR LIGHTS, Tinted windows, AC Schnitzer Handbrake/gearknob/pedal kit/17" Alloys, White Viper Stripes, Visibility Pack, CHILI Pack, Multi Function Steering Wheel, Alloy Patina Trim, ASC+T, Manual Air Con and that's about it!!! |

Offline | He probably thought you had some kind of 'trick' lighting system, you know, like some Max Power kids fit.... flashing stobes or something. It is very illegal to show any kind of Blue light.... he probably thought he could do you for impersonating a copper in a Cooper! Glad to see he didn't get @rsy about your tints..... |

Offline | LOL They tend to pull you for silly things and see if they can spot others once the car is stopped...but if your polite they usually feel a bit stupid and send you on your way ![]() |
