Offline | Saw an interesting article in this week's Autocar magazine. It was reviewing MINI's first (and very successful) year in the US. Apparently BMW have sold more New MINI's to the US this year than the total number of old Minis sold. It also mentioned that the average age of a MINI buyer is 44 (which pleases me ) - what do you think? Is a MINI for the young, or does owning one make you feel young? ![]() MCS - IB/W, Chilli pack, Auto a/c, Sat Nav, Visibility pack, HK Audio, Full Leather, DSC, Black Windows, PDC, MFSW, Heated Seats, Alarm/Tracker. Mmmm and a HUGE grin!!! |

Offline | The great thing about the Mini is that it appeals to all different types of people... I have a Cooper on the way, my mum's 44 and has the 'S' and my auntie is 36 and has the Cooper... They both say it makes them feel 18 again but I have no idea what they're on about being 16 myself (and I love the Mini). Different models will appeal to different ages of people as the ONE is a great car if you like the Mini feel but maybe can't afford the extra insurance on the Cooper or the S and don't need to go mad on the road. The ONE D would be perfect for my dad... always looking after the pennies. So there is really a Mini for everyone that needs a small car to get them from A to B. Offline | individual I work in advertising, and in my experience I catagorise Mini ownership as for thos ewho are individual regardless of age or experience. We all need an icon or symbol of individualism. and there is no other car that says that, its been pased on from the 60's when Lennon and Co had one. How many cars currently in production can you personalise? If you want to be grey and faceless get a Ford, if you want to be seen as indivual get a Mini. Everything we buy is a statement of who we are and what we would like to be perceived. Age is not an issue its how you feel that counts. |

Offline | I dont know im only 16 1/2 and I want an MCS sooo bad but im going away to boarding school so I can't have a car so it would be pointless for me to get a new car. There is a certain part of it being for the young at heart that is true but it can be loved by all ages. |

Offline | As David Brent would say "I'm in my 30's" (i.e almost 40 ) and the car has a very enduring appeal about it. Not sure whether its for younger drivers only, even the new MINI seems to transcend all boundaries including age and income.260909 ![]() |

Offline | Let's see then. So far we've had 44;44;36;17;38;42;32;72 ;39;21;37;48 - I make that an average age of 39.6 weeks ago I traded in my Porsche 911 for the MCS and I am loving it . Porsche have a good 'owners club' feel amongst fellow drivers, but other drivers were often agressive towards me on the road (especially Audi A4/A6 and Mondeo rep-mobiles). But, everyone loves the MINI. Almost all other drivers smile at you (even lorry drivers). ManyMINI drivers flash their lights or wave. And when you park up, there's always someone with a "I used to own a Mini" story. So it seems that Banana's 15 year old step-daughter (?) has got it right. MINIs are driven by smiley people of any age. MCS - IB/W, Chilli pack, Auto a/c, Sat Nav, Visibility pack, HK Audio, Full Leather, DSC, Black Windows, PDC, MFSW, Heated Seats, Alarm/Tracker. Offline | I'm 35 and very excited about receiving my Mini (sometime mid-late sept). It couldn't come at a better time as I could really use some cheer day to day. While I was at the dealer there was an elderly couple easily 70+ that were going to take one home. My wife got chatty with them and they said they just love the Minis. A co-worker in the mid 50's was going to get a Beetle but has changed her mind and will be ordering a Mini later this year. Their appeal is so universal, that is rare and very endearing. |
