| MINI2 Senior | Spec Disaster! Went to see my Cooper at the dealers today....apart from having no aero kit fitted, due to a shortage (which I knew about) they have forgotten to fit the sunroof! I am gutted...... I've been waiting since the end of May and just don't know what to do. Their attitude seems to be -take it or leave it, or order another car. Trying to get something out of them but not holding much hope.....any thoughts? |

| Nice TTs......... | Yet another speccing / delivery disaster...........its amazing how many have surfaced over the last few days........ Do you have A/C specced anyway? Push them for whatever you can get, but if you cant wait, I gues you will just have to take the car as it is........ ![]() ![]() Global Moderator |

Offline | I think it's worth waiting for a new car that is to your spec. - otherwise you'll be driving around in x years wondering what if you had got a sunroof. Therefore I'd reject the car and threaten to order from another dealer unless you get something in recompense. There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all. |

| MINI2 Senior | Thanks all. Aiden-nope, no air con. Went for the sunroof instead. Probably would be so fussed if it had the air con. dietcoke- i think your're right, I re-speced with a sunroof for all the usual reasons and will forever be driving around thinking..."if only!" What galls me is the fact that they don't seem to care....I asked for a checked roof to be supplied fitted free and the aero fitted free when they are back in stock, I think i might be happy with that....they are getting back to me. |

Offline | How about re-ordering but insisting they supply a car (MINI) for your use in the meantime. They may be able to get a car in a quicker time in the case of an emergency which this is. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Data entry ... Most dealers (that I have seen) still do the order on paper then someone somewhere along the line enters it into the computer and that is where I'd bet a lot of mistakes happen. The person doing the data entry probably sees a bunch of orders at a time and they all end up blurring together. Until people let go of paper altogether and do everything on computers (vs. the current 1/2 on half off) these unfortunate problems will unfortunately crop up from time to time. Good luck with what ever you decide Simon, just don't let the dealer pressure you into anything you'll regret later, a few more months wait is far better then a few years unhappiness. Like someone else said if your dealer isn't willing to 'take care' of you, go elsewhere. |

| MINI2 Senior | This lot seem to do everything on paper-even more so since they were recently taken over and the old company took all their database servers with them! The sunroof was added about 5 weeks before build date, the re-spec was faxed to the main office, who thought it was a copy of the original order. The salesman should have used a different form apparently....as you say if it was ALL on screen and updated to the factory these sorry and upsetting tales shouldn't really happen. I suppose the lesson is to anyone re-speccing a car, however small, double check with the dealer that the change has gone through. If a mistake is made, then comes the real test of a good dealership....we shall see...... Last edited by Simon James : Aug 28th, 2003 at 03:34 PM. |

Offline | That is really terrible - it was my nightmare that I would pick my car up and there would be something wrong with it. I hope they sort you out and you are happy with your lovely car, whatever you decide to do. Good luck!!! ![]() |

Offline | my advise: don't accept the car unltill you have - at least - a "good" feeling about your transaction. Alternatively think about - asking them to deliver a car untill the new one arrives - complain at MINI UK about this incident - get accessories for free or large rebate (even Works !!) success !! ![]() very "Works". |

Offline | Simon.... I'd wait for the car you really want. I can tell that you are really disappointed as any of us would be. But who knows, you may end up loving the car so much you'll want to keep it forever. If that happens you will probably be much happier with the car you originally ordered. I would insist that they compensate you in some way though. I think a demo loaner until your car arrives would be fair. Hang in there and get what you ordered. |
