Effect of the Italian Job on UK MINI sales

Some questions:

Is it likely to increase demand for the new MINI particularly aerokitted cars in red/white/blue.

If it does will it shore up used prices which although still very good are not holding up as they were when the car was in its infancy?

Will classic Mini owners who don't have new MINI's see the film?

Opinions please...

I really think the sales will go up after this film. I mean, the film just makes you want a MINI. Also she drives a classic mini in the film, but I don't want to give too much away.

It will probably make people go and buy the IB/W combo especially when there ordering the S version.

I'd say sales will go up, but it all depends how widely seen the movie will be........

The average punter may not pay any notice to the MINIs..........

Sales will go up, but good luck if they're wanting an Aero Kit!

I doubt it will make much difference as the movie isn't likely to be BIG at the box office - is it ???

I tend to agree that sales will go up, certainly for the Cooper & S. One's may turn out to be popular if people want a MINI without digging too deep into their pockets.

But if sales go up, that will mean more MINI2 members joining - so that can't be a bad thing can it?

I think it's too early to say, have any of our American friends noticed any increase in demand?

Increase in sales??????
A moderate increase I would say. The MINI has been on sale for over 2 years now and if you don't know what one looks like by now you must've been living in a box
I don't think it'll be a huge marketing tool. MINI have already covered most of the ground already

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

OH my god...the MINI will turn out to be a Ford Focus... I mean every other car you see on the road will be a MINI.

Jesus...residuals will plummet...I mean a Fiat will be worth more .

They wont go and see the film, but no doubt a small minority will be picketing outside doing what they do best......Moaning and complaining that the MINI has now robbed the original film title.

On a serious note....If the film is a success over here I would of thought demand will be high for New and Used MINIs and that would see the used prices climbing higher than what they are now.

Not true.

If you go to the MINIitalianjob.com website,....im sure its called,...you will find that MINI are using this as a HUGE marketing tool.

A complete unashamed attempt to generate more money and get more and more of us to buy spots, R90's and aero kits.

Not that im complaining,....my new pepper white cooper with white roof is gagging for the look!!!!!

and if you havent already seen the site, go check it out,...there is a 15MB download on some of the stunts and behind the scenes.

Classic owners will go and see it, not all of us are miserable sad gits who hate the MINI. I personally don't have any love for BMW, but I have to admire thier business sense and the customer service I have recieved from BMW and MINI both now and in past dealings.

I think sales will increase as do many car/item sales when they are in a hollywood film. I don't know how much but I think their will be a slight boost, we humans are pretty sad in this respect, if its famous we must have it!

LOL

12 days and 20 or so hours in and I still love it!!!!...MINI I LOVE YOU!

Hey any thoughts on names for my little girl?

PS/B Cooper chilli

I'm really stuck!

Strange how they are "re-releasing" it in theaters this friday in the U.S. Honestly though the commercial makes me want to get a Mini and I already have one. It's like flash to Charlize Theron then a bunch of Minis ripping around then Theron again then lots of Minis. I'm like "I want that one and that on and that one..." I'm sure that the editing was very specific, it makes you want a Mini in less than a minute w/ the hope that maybe Charlize Theron ( or someone equally hot) comes with it.

MINI USA said they *did* see a sales spike (presumably actually an order spike due to the back-ordering).
See this on Gabe Bridgers wonderful web site:
MINIUSA sees 20% sales spike

So the Italian Job is releasing this weekend in England? And I fly in tomorrow just in time to see it again
