United-States Approaching 10,000 miles- 1st oil change?

Should I wait for indicator on speedometer? Or should I book in advance. How long can I go safely past 10,000 miles before oil change.

had my 10,000 at 9,300 miles even though indicator
read about 2,000 miles before service due.I've been changing oil about every 3,500 miles. I just don't
feel comfortable letting oil go for 10,000 plus like they say.call for appointment. best service MINI PEABODY.

in theory the indicator is there to let you know when the oil change is necessary, my self, my oil got changed at about 3000miles at the beginning because I didn't want to leave it in.

I would ring up and ask your dealer but is the indicator says theres more left init alls you can do is trust thats its correct.

Depends on dealer, if it's really the first cahnge, etc.
If your mileage is fairly regular, predict when it will be close but not over and make an appointment for then. If it gets too close, go in without an appointment. I had a surprise trip of about 800 miles sprung right before my change, and just showed up at the dealer showing past due of a few hundred miles. They got me right in!

The 'rule' that I was told was they can do the change as early as 9000 miles included in your free maintence. How late they'll do it is debatable, but if you do lots of highway miles you could have an indicated change of 11,000 or higher, which is perfectly fine.

There isn't a hard and fast rule, but much of the point of the change interval calculator is to avoid wasting oil by changing early but still protect your car. Just schedule based on the speedometer and your general driving habits. Or if you're worried, go in around 10k.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.
