Offline | How to get a beeping gas light? Forgive me if this is a standard feature nowadays (I am waiting patiently for my new MCS to arrive). But I read a long time ago about some people programming their car so that the gas light beeps once when it first goes on. I have this feature on my VW Passat and I love it. That way I know exactly when the light goes on. Anyone know if it really is a programmable option? Or is this coming standard now on the new cars? I asked my dealer and they have never heard of such a thing. |

Offline | Order on board computer. It'll give you a reasonably accurate range calculation, then you don't care when the low fuel light went on, you know how much you have left. running out of gas once could be worth the price of the OBC. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | The MPG function of my OBC is 10-15% over actual [hand calculated], so I don't put much trust in the RANGE function ![]() Having it to do over, I wouldn't order the OBC. |

Offline | 10% is good enough for me to know. I just got gas before it ran out. Besides, if you're getting say 400 miles to a tank, its not like you should wait until you get 4-6 miles left! just get gas sometime before 20, and you'll be happy. Sure its a gadget, but its useful...and it costs 1% of the car, so its not exactly a big ticket item. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | Varies by MINI, mine is 'spot on' as you english like to say Mine said 7 miles to go and I put 13 gallons in a 13.2 gallon tank, I'd say that close enough to be useful. Has anyone with highly inaccurate OBC's talked to their dealer about it? |

Offline | 400 is not so hard to believe, works out to around 31mpg ... I get 29mpg with mostly local driving. So far I have not had a long enough drive to have a whole tank of highway mileage but I have gotten as high as 38mpg on short half tank highway runs, which would work out to just under 500miles for 13 gallons. FYI: I normally fill up between 320 and 340 miles |

Offline | I got anywhere between very low 20's (21, 22) to about 32.5 on highway trips. If I drove slower and was carrying less crap I'm sure I could have gotten higher. Always seemed to have several hundred lbs of stuff when I was going farther then a hundred miles, and the speed limit was 65 so i'd uhh follow exactly .Even with A/C on on road trips I could get 31 or so at the same speeds. I got range on the OBC to exceed 500 miles once or twice when I'd fill up in the middle of a long trip. I drove 15,000 miles on my car and never used it to commute, there were many highway trips, and what wasn't a trip was puttering around in city traffic. Most trips were around half to a full tank of gas. (Cleveland to NY several times, Cleveland to Madison WI, Cleveland to Flint MI, Cleveland to Rochester NY several times, Rochester to Hudson Valley in NY, Cleveland to Dayton) Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | I get 400 miles to a tank easily. Getting at least 32 mpg and that's with the Auto A/C on constantly and doing 75-85 on the highway. If I behave and actually drive 65, the OBC tells me I'm getting the advertised 37 mpg. But I don't behave myself... |
