The first ****-load, grrrr, ship-load of of US spec Coopers and Cooper Ses arrives February 4th at Elizabeth, NJ aboard the Swedish registered vessel--FIGARO.
Well, if you're planing on hijacking some them once they hit the docks, perhaps we can work out a deal. Make mine a Dark Silver Cooper S with the Sport Package.
Oh, and keep the revs under 4500 since it won't be run in yet.
+ 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather
+ 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed
Isn't this a little early? I know it takes time to prep and deliver, but it still seems early.

A little sleuthing on classic mini sites turned up the following pics taken on Thurs 1/24 and Fri 1/25 on the Southampton docks. The first photo shows a Wallenius Wilhelmsen freighter in the background, that checking their website shows a picture of the Figaro having the same lifeboat stowage on the stern as the ship in the photo. The W-W sailing schedule shows the Figaro leaving Southampton on 1/27 and arriving NY/NJ on 2/4.
Thanks to David at www.barnhillminis.co.uk ,purveyor of classic minis, for posting these pics on their website!

Are the MINIs parked still in England?
If so, why is there a truck behind them with several VERY American cars.
Or, are these shots already in NJ!
But yes, obviously US spec, by the reflectors on the flares.

I can't wait to see one in person. I haven't been this excited over a car since the Miata. Oh, I still love and will keep my '99 Miata, but I'm eyeing a MINI Cooper or even a MINI Cooper S to go with my Miata and Jetta.
The MINI and Miata will be for fun... the Jetta for the long commutes.
Are there any MIN's for viewing in the Bay Area? I work up there half the week and would like to stop by and check one out in person.
Are dealers keeping the MRSP? Or are they "jacking" the price already?
I always had white cars, but that yellow is calling me.
An Italian friend of mine lives in New York, he owns a garbage business, would be willing to help you unload a few of MINIs from the docks when they arrive.
You can trust him..OK OK!

Earlier comments on this forum seem to point to March 21-22nd for Press Introduction, Russ Swift being in the US, and dealer grand openings.
If you allow: 3 days for clearing customs, 14 days for Pre-Delivery Insp, 7 days waiting for replacement parts to arrive from Cowley, 14 days for transport to dealers, 7 days displayed under cover to pique public interest at the dealer, you arrive at March 21st. Remember, that with MINI USA personnel doing these processes for the first time, the learning curve will be slow initially.
No. I would guess that the US SUV & van on the transporter belong to TYPICAL Americans, needing to cling to their massively overweight vehicles when travelling overseas, returning stateside from holidays or military duty.
Sorry Bruce, I got dibs on the DS Cooper S, since I saw it first and there is only one. But, could I interest you in a 60's classic lt. blue 1000 or an island blue MK11 instead? If so, just send me a check for 8000 squid or USD equiv., and I will guarantee delivery to the nearest Texas MINI dealer for you to collect!
Does this friend go by the nick name "Vinny One Eye" and does he run an after hours auto relocation business on the side in partnership with a couple of longshoremen?
