Anyone raced an S2000?

Well - he should have been able to beat me. I could tell he was planning on winding it up as he flicked on the radar detector while we waited for the light to change at the bottom of the twisty steep 1 mile road that ends my homeward bound commute every day.

I was directly behind him - perhaps my familiarity with the road helped me get the better of him - he took off like a rocket and wove his way around a couple of cars - but within 400 yards I was by him doing about 75mph. perhaps he chickened out - I don't know. But I got to the top of the hill while he brought up the rear - and it felt sooo gooood!

I've driven one and while they are nice, the engine just does not have enough useable power. I've seen plenty an S2000 go down against my friends chipped 1.8T golf, with an intake/exhaust/pulley and you driving well they won't be able to hang. I came real close to buying one of these before I put the deposit down on my MCS and it just isn't enough car for the money, although I really like the way they look lowered with the right rims.

a standard MCS has more torque then a standard s2000

mcs = 210Nm
S2000 = 208Nm

its not much difference but ive heard that s2000 aren't THAT great performers

Interesting - that figures. They're a little heavier too.

And doesn't the S2000's usable power come in even higher in the rev band than an MC or MCS??? 4000rpm for MC, more like 5500 for S2000??? Correct me, please, if I'm wrong.

So with an aggressive right foot, accurate shifting, and a curvy road, an MCS can get and stay ahead of an S2000?

Cool bones. Now to buy an S...

Yeah I think peak power (176kw) comes in at 6000rpm and stays until 9000 rpm or so.
