Offline | What are the chances of that happening?.... So, you turn up at Chievely services for the start of "Cotswold Run 2 - The MINIs return" and, whilst walking around looking at the other lovely examples of vehicular engineering, you notice YOUR OLD CAR!!!! ![]() I might be a bit like seeing an ex-girlfriend at a party. Would you go and see it? Speak to the new owners? See if they've damaged him/her in any way? Maybe they'll question you about your treatment in the previous relationship? "So, why did the clutch go just after I bought it with only 22k miles?" "Why didn't you tell me about the plumes of black smoke every time I hit 5000 revs?" I just figured that with so many of you getting new cars (Soggy, Washy, Sham, Paul etc.) that this is bound to happen at some point, isn't it? (I still see my old '78 Clubman estate driving around near my Mum and Dads!!) |

Offline | i once had a very rusted out vw bus that a few friends and i splattered painted for a college event. the bus sat around in my barn for 2 years after the event before I sold it for $700 with the horrible paint job to a hippie-stoner from a town 2 hours a way. years went by and i was working a job that required lots of driving around the northeastern US. the company wasn't doing so well and one morning after driving nearly 5 hours away from home I got a call that I was being laid off along with my entire department. I decided to just turn around and drive home. on the way back I was running all sorts of scenarios through my mind about how i was going to pay the bills, including my car payment. I was driving a fairly new SUV that was affordable only with the mileage re-imbursement on my expense account. as i was thinking that it might be time to simplify my vehicle and get something less expensive i saw it...... puttering down the highway in the opposite direction was my old bus. still covered in the horrible paint job and now sporting several unfinished metal panels replacing the rusted out sections. |

| Never seen one of my old cars about. But a few years ago my father-in-law bought his new girlfriend to meet us, and she arrived looking very pale, shaking and in tears - it turns out that i had just inherited her very nasty ex-husband's company car and when she saw it parked outside my house she nearly refused to come in expecting to see Mr Nasty himself lying in wait for her.... Luckily she got over the shock quite quickly, and turned out to be such a lovely person i don't mind that I now have two mother-in-laws ![]() |

Offline | I've seen a couple of former wheels of mine, nothing special. I was once travelling up the M11, very slightly faster than the car in front, when I caught sight of his number - the same number as mine. I wasn't best pleased to say the least. Anyway, it turned out alright. I had NMO 91R and he had NMD 91R, and both the O and the D were basically 'squared' version of lettering rather than oval. Very spooky. |

| Heading down the aisle | My first car (78 Toyota Corolla) went to my sister, then was sold off . Spotted it in the S.F. Bay Area (the old homestead) a couple/three years ago. Spotted it again in San Diego (where I live now) a year or so later. 15 years after I let it go. |

| Hangin at the Krusty Krab | Saw my old MC at my dealers the other day (almost a year after I changed it). I asked what it was in for, and was told "water ingestion" .............I don't generally believe in coincidences, but for that car to have a new engine during my ownership due to water ingestion, then to return a year later under new ownership with water damage was a bit unnerving. That said, the water ingestion second time was due to flooding around the car, not driving through a flood (parked by a woman ). Strange nonetheless. |

Offline | Dont know were my One went but I got a letter asking to verify the milage then another just to be sure as there was some 6000 miles difference. Have seen my last classic about a few times I had really sad feelings it just looked so right Minilites, chrome the metalic blue paint sigh. I was eventually able to speak to the new owner after seeing him in a car park he told me he had just had a new gearbox £700 ouchy . It was at this point the rose tinted spectacles began to slip and I could remember MOTs, rear brake pistons and those odd lumps of metal that came out of the sump on one of the last oil changes. |

Offline | I saw my mum's old car again, two or three months after it was traded in - A Mini Metro, remember those! AAAAAARRRRRRGH! What a terrible car, one of the most miserable lumps of metal ever created. I saw it again as it was in the local newspaper (they didn't blank the reg. plate). Someone had broken into it and nicked the stereo, which I was amazed at, as it was the factory-fitted one when we had it. To be honest though, I'm not even sure it was in stereo, it didn't come with many speakers, no FM only AM etc, must have been worthless. I couldn't believe that anyone would bother to break into it. Shame, it was only a young couple that bought the car, and then it gets done over in a couple of months! Must have been a slow day news-wise as well.... No animals were harmed in the sending of this post However, a few million electrons were extremely inconvenienced |
