Offline | I guess mine has the new plastic too, as it's also a July '03 build - how do I tell? ![]() |

Offline | The original seat backs are pretty smooth (although they do have a light texture) and scratch easy! The new ones have a texture more like the dash top or the door trims (although made from a more tough plastic), and are much harder to scratch. Offline | Ooh, don't think they are then, you know! Mine's got a build date of 10/07/03 I think, what's yours Paul? Know if they scratch easy as I don't often have anyone in the back! Well, that would be telling ![]() |

Offline | If you take a look in my Gallery there is a picture taken from the rear seat of my July build One-D where you can see a bit of the back of the front seat (phew). Think this might be the rough stuff 'cos it feels a lot like the door panels. |

Offline | Looks like it! New: http://www.mini2.com/gallery/persona...I/dscf0013.jpg Old: http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/cyeung/meter.jpg The old style is smoother and more 'fuzzy' the new has a strong pattern to it, it also appears slightly darker in colour. Offline | You're right, in fact the last I heard there's a few problems with the three spoke (a few more problems) and it could be delayed further.... Our trials and tribulations living in a "bleeding edge" eco house... Oxley Woods Living |

Offline | I saw a 2004 model I have a 2003 July build cooper. here is a pic of the seat back. the pattern is the same as the door trim. It feels roughly the same as the door, perhaps a tiny bit more polished. Is this the new seat back covers or the old ones? Last edited by No Golf Clubs at all : Sep 12th, 2003 at 10:09 AM. |

Offline | Hmmm, have been looking too, in fact just bought a cooper... the new models have new prices too (at least here in Italy), and they are roughly 5-6% higher.... But oh well, anything for a mini! |

Offline | New on left, old on right. It's quite a major difference, just hard to capture on camera! Our trials and tribulations living in a "bleeding edge" eco house... Oxley Woods Living |

![]() 6X therapist | The new plastic covers was introduced at the insistance of BMW QA people after many complaints, its much more durable and does'nt have the 'mineral' (ie. not plastic} filler to provide stability to the part. Quite an expensive mod to tooling involved. It proves that if enough people shout , things get done. |

Offline | 37 posts on "The Back of The Seats" followed closely by "What Happens if I Hit The Button on My Key Ring Twice?" and "Toggle Switches-Do they get in the way of your CupHolder?" I'm all giggley , I don't have a clue what the back of my seats look like, they could say "Fuzzy Nuts was here! 2003" or have map holders or ANYTHING... I'm definately going to go check at lunch. |

Offline | Those indeed are great news!. I don't like the seatback material in my '02 Cooper and are looking forward to the new and improved seatbacks in my '04 MCS. Has MINI fixed the huge problem they are having with scratched door pulls and dashboard downtubes in the white silver trim??? Why MINI still refuses to put a nice coat of lacquer on these high wear and tear parts??? |
