Just thought I will warn anyone silly enough to clean a car and shut the doors with both keys inside.
I was washing the inside of my mini and must have activated the locks by pressing the lock door toggle switch while cleaning around the area. I then shut the doors to clean the glass, not realising that I pressed the button.
Went to open the door and that m friends, is when I realised I was locked out of my car with both keys in it.
Luckly I had a key in the ign so I had to get some wire from my neighbour (9pm at night, luckly shes a builder) and unlock the doors by prising the glass so there was a gap and then by pulling on the handle with the wire. Thank god I had a key still in the ign other wise I would have still been trying to get in.
SO BE CAREFUL WHILE CLEANING THE CAR

The autolock feature is only if you unlock the car but don't open any of the doors. This allows the car to secure itself, since neither you nor the keys can be inside.
This got me thinking, that there should be a button or coded keypad under the car in a secret place so if you had this problem you could access the car, It would be espicially good for emergency service people getting children out of locked cars.

If I ever need to brake into my MINI I'll give you a call. I might pop this out into general discussion as a warning to other MINI ownere from right around the world
Ummm, I think the MINI is virtually impossible to lock your keys in? Or maybe thats just mine.
Well to start off, the center console locking mechanism will only work if ALL doors are closed, this means even if one door is open you won't be able to lock it by accident and then close the door.
Secondly, when the driver side door is open, you cannot push the little lock on the door down.
Thats what its like on my MINI, so it's basically impossible to lock your keys in.
So technically, you did this with all 3 keys in the car? The wallet key in your wallet in the door, another key in the ignition and the third somewhere else?
Anyway, impressive, and handy you solved the problem, it would have been much more embarrising and expensive to go to the dealer and ask them to make you a new key.. or at least relatively more, how many thousands of people did you just post this to ?
