the way this countries going you'll have to have the registered keeper's Name, Address, DOB, Tel, Mob, Identity Chip Number, Hair Colour, Eye Colour, Shoe Size, What you ate for breakfast, Where you plan on going tonight...

LOL.... as i'll be the ripe old age of 75 then maybe they'll have taken my licence away, or maybe by then cars wont exist and we'll all be using teleporters to move around !!!

I believe its Switzerland (cant be certain !!, i'm sure someone will correct me !) or somewhere like that where you get a licence plate when you pass your driving test and you take it from car to car, even better you can buy a book which tells you the name/Address of all registrations !, seems a bit dodgy to me, but I guess it may cut road rage if everyone can find out where you live !!!!....

I think Jason's got it about right. The gov't will find it irresistible to have such information available to it.

Consider...

In future, your car's ID will be 'attached' to a sat nav system, which will in turn be 'attached' to your driver ID, which will in turn will be 'attached' to you NI number, which in turn will be 'attached' to your bank account details, etc. etc. etc....

So that...

When you've been out on a MINI run along some 75 miles of deserted backwater, there will be an email waiting for you stating that HM Gov't has relieved you of a couple of hundred hard earned Euro's for a) speeding, b) venturing off designated traffic corridors, c) premium fuel tax for not taking the most economical route. Your pension rights have been decreased due to 'unnecessary' stress placed on your already overstressed body, etc. etc. etc....

Tescos will have made a home delivery (they know that you are parked in their car parks on a regular basis, and what you load into you boot while on their premises) which includes a sufficient supply of Kleenex for you to sob uncontrollably into.

Or perhaps I paint too rosy a picture?

sorry to mention but on a small technicality the list is slightly inaccurate e.g. a 2003 registered car could wear a 52, 03 or 53 plate depending on when it was registered.

Was just thinking that shamster or somewhere along those lines... I never understood anybody who doesnt understand it I still hear people saying they dont understand the new (well in 2001 anyway) reg no's ... go on Jason now give us a run down of all the area's i.e YH - Yorkshire etc etc etc

To be cynical - by the year 2015 Ken Livingstone may have ensured that there is only two registration plates for the whole country - One for the Queen ( or King ) and one for his Taxi

well after reading that I have decided to put off ordering a new MCS and wait for the new registration in 2050 - my sources from within the factory indicate that there is a subtle new front end treatment for the 2050 models due at the same time......

Actually, I may buy in 2049 and see if it's a retro-fit....
