Offline | Watch that rev-limiter! I was following a car today, that was doing 30mph in a 60mph zone. And not just that, but one of my FAVOURITE twisty 60mph zones! So, I changed down to 2nd to overtake. Gained a bit of speed, then moved out to get past him. There was plenty of room. Anyway, if the rev-limiter hadn't've kicked in, or if it kicked in later, I would've been ok. I just needed that little bit extra in 2nd to be able to get past safely. I probably could've done it anyway, but I saw a car approaching on my side, put my foot down a bit more and the power just totally cut out. The only option was to brake, and go back into my side of the road, luckily there was no-one else there apart from me and the car I was overtaking. So, this taught me a lesson. Be VERY careful of the rev-limiter. Make sure you keep your eye on the rev counter, especially during overtaking, and change up well before the limiter kicks in, or you could leave yourself with no power! |

Offline | lol, yeah but it was really tight by the time the rev-limiter came in, because it kinda put me off-balance. To change up etc. would've meant it'd've been too late. Bottom line is I wasn't expecting it so wasn't ready for a gear-change at all as I quickly glanced at the rev-counter and mentally thought "it's ok". It's a good leeson learnt! Felt a right idiot though!! ![]() Anyone know where to get a change light fitted, and how much? Are you sure they don't affect the warranty? The ones on the JCC cars are cool :-) |

Offline | That's why they put the tach on the steering column..!! ![]() I actually thought the way the limiter cuts in was pretty good - gradual, not a 'bounce' off the limit. |

Offline | My rev limiter is very smooth, it's the traction control that tries to kill me on occasion, if BMW F1 cars can have decent traction control, why can't we?? Why does it need to cut the power for 2 secs? 1/4-1/2 sec would be enough IMO 2002 Porsche Boxster |
