I Killed her!

I'm afraid my love affair with Mary (my MINI) is over on Thursday of last week (18th Sept) I wrote her off! I was being a prat and I paid the price! let that be a lesson.
I was on a country road, the one I drive more or less every day on the way to and from work. Came in to a tight S bend came round far too fast hit some gravel/dust on the outside of the corner, hit the bank through me back out into the road snaked and by the time it sorted its self out the second part of the corner had came! whoosh off I went. jumped a 4ft ditch but just caught the front right wheel at an angle on the bank of the ditch. left side impact air bag went off and I carried on about 100 yrds into a freshly drilled field!
Once I had got out, I sustained no injuries thankfully. I checked damage. right front suspension had collapsed and the rear left had been pushed back about an inch into the arch. so I get my friend to come drag it out of the field I keep it at his farm over night. it gets picked up by the coachworks the next day.
Now on Sat I ring up to get a loan car and the bloke said it will be more than likely written off, he said the chassis had been twisted by about an inch. So as you can imagine I haven't had the best of weekends.
I won't be getting another MINI anytime soon because being 19 and having written off a MINI and have a speeding conviction this year, it kind of makes me a risk! pah. so it looks like I will be making a few less posts from now on (not that a made many but the help and wealth of knowledge on this site has been immensely helpful)
I way return to these shores in a few years time when im older had the noose loosened from my neck.
Thanks and bye for now!

But on the driving side of things.... cheers fer the high premiums

expealadocious, even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious.

I guess this is why premiums are so high for younger drivers

Glad you're OK - sorry the MINI isn't

As with most things in life its always the harsh lessons that we learn from. ive been driving for more than 2 years with nothing! and then this. well looks like im going back to my old escort for a couple of years.
Well being a knob is something i try not to be but this time i fully agree, im going to feel this for at least 3 years so im the greastest loser.
But the best thing for me now is to make the best of a bad situation. Not to let i get me down and so on...

Sorry to hear about your crash. But, on the bright side, at least no one was hurt.

All you can now do is put it down to experience.
Remember, at least in the years to come you have a story to tell.

Sounds like Mary Mini gave up her life to save yours. Since your motto is "I drive slower with women", I guess you shoulda had a woman with you on this ride. Coulda, shoulda, woulda. Good thing the field was fresh and not wooded! Better luck next time.

True! she put her life in front of mine.
Been to the coach works today and had a good talk to the bloke. Said he had sent off a quote for the work to fix it! yes it is fixable apparently! well for just over £8000 its fixable! list goes:
New shell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whole new front suspension
left rear all new suspension
and other bits and bobs!

im sure most the cost is on labour for totally stripping and then building the car from the ground up in the workshop! you never know it may cure the sweaky dash!

Well the bloke seems to think there is no chance of it being given the go ahead.
But after hearing the news of my co-workers son falling ill (forgive me for not going into detail) it kind of brings my problem into prospective.

I hope they don't rebuild it, it sounds like it would be more spares than factory build!!

Good to know you are ok, but you should learn to take it a little more sensible in future so you can get back to mini in a few years time!

Thats my thoughts exactly. i don't mind having a run down motor for 2-3 years when i know at the end of it i will be able to jump straight back into to a cooper or even better an S, who knows though.
