I understand that the little darlings use the caps as whistles. They make a 'cool' sound when you blow air into them.

Had my car since April, one weekend in Bolton the other week all gone!!!

I was well miffed as I was up there thinking about moving to the city, not anymore!!

Like the idea of grease on them and the lockable ones, any chance of photos of those please??

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

Caught a couple of scally-wags trying to nick my spincaps tonight. I've parked my car under a security cam and have the camera open in a window on my desktop. Saw 'em run up to the car then crouch down at the wheels so I went out to have a word.

One of the kids must have been all of 5. The kids emptied their pockets to show me the 7-8 they'd both already acquired this evening. They asked if they could have one of mine each as they hadn't seen ones like 'em before. I've promised the kids a bag each of caps as long as they promise to stop nicking 'em off everyone's cars! Doubt it'll do any good though.

Angry Grrrrrrrrrrr

Got back from the sports centre last night only to notice some begger has done a runner with one of my nice little valve caps. I now only have 3 left. I ask you, what is the point. There were no other mini's in the car park. I know they are not expensive to replace, but it the principal.

If i see it again there will be a family-sized can of whoop-ass opened upon them trust me. I know Mini_Cruiser had some prolems too...she was lucky enough to catch em in the act..........and she made them cry hehehehe.

EZ peeps.

pmsl MC made them cry?! That's funny.

Don't get much of that in these parts, but I can imagine it's frustrating.

For this exact reason I don't put my Mini valve caps on my MINI. Too big a risk for some idiot to walk by and take them off, so I just have some cheap ones on instead.

The Mini valve caps stay in my glovebox!

My neighbour was wshing his car on Sunday, he started to tell me about some of his dustcaps going missing, when I looked at my wheels and the little b***ards had taken my two rear caps.
Not only that, they've left nasty clean spots on my alloys where their grubby thieving little hands brushed the wheel.

I'd only had my new pride and joy for just over a week before all 4 valve caps were nicked when parked at a local cinema.

Can't see the attraction of the MINI's caps except that they are not black, but you're right, what's the point?

From all the other threads on this type of thing, it's something we've got to live with from the sounds of it.

Now have a backup set for the next time, and considering taking them off next time I'm parked there

I caught them trying to rob mine over the weekend 2 diferent lots of kids. But they were unsuccessful cos I have anti theft ones . They just spin around and you need a special key to get them off . I got extra long one which completley cover the valve stem so they cant cut the stem off .

Have you tried using pliers or a wrench to get them on extra tightly? I did that once with my crappy dust caps and I wasn't able to get them off when I tried, I had to use pliers to get them off.

Maybe its worth a try?

Sorry to hear that Charger, I've been lucky to date and had none pinched.

There was a big thread on the lockable caps - try a search on here for it

well - do you guys remember when nicking VW badges was all the rave!!! - cant see the point of nicking valve caps - but id rather they take them than the wheels!! -

I would'nt bother with any antitheft caps - it might frustrate the little blighters into Keying your motor!
