Offline | I got mine nicked too. The kids want them for their bikes. I can't complian too much as I done the same when I was younger. I just put my new ones on by hand but so tight that there's no way a kid will manage to remove them. They have already tried again (could see their grubby or should I say clean prints round the valve) and failed. I hope they don't do what someone mentioned and just cut the whole valve off!! Need a car that keeps me happy for more than 3 months!! |

Offline | This seems to be a pursuit of juveniles in both the UK and US. Here are a few quotes I found on cromie collecting on a youth discussion forum: "First of all a cromie is the little cap put on some expensive car tires that is made out of crome. The best way to steel a cromie is to go to a campground with lits of big moterhomes and steel them of their tires. Then go and stick them on your bike or car. They if you feel like it you can slit their tires so they can't pull out of their spot the next morning causing a ton of #*@!." "Hell yeah, you guys are awesome! I steal all these chromies and stiff and i now have 264 total. i've been stealin' them scince 4th grade and immin 7th now. I also smoke weed for fun!" (Anonymous Aug 3,2003) "seel your cromies to kids in ur school.if they r to chicken to steal them on their own they will buy them off of you" (Anonymous Jun 15, 2003) Don't they teach spelling and proper grammar in grade school any more? I could spell properly by the 4th grade. |

Offline | Theft of dustcaps! Don't know if i've been unlucky but somewise person (very very polite!) has nicked my dustcaps from my MC Alloys. As I wanted to keep the car "genuine" went to mini to get a set stainless ones to replace the ones that were nicked - only 20 pence each. Whilst I was there ANOTHER MC owner came in to get a set as his had been nicked a few days previous. The Storesperson indicated it's very common on the BMWs to get nicked (its the same part) but he hadn't heard of many of the mini dustcaps been taken. Anyone else had the same trouble?... know its minor but its bloody annoying ![]() |

| Remember | Yup, had mine robbed too, a weekend in Bolton and they had gone, pretty sure it was a Jag owner too, as he seemed to be behind me for ages, then parked mear me when I left the car. ![]() There are a few thread on here about it, have a search as there are tips on making it harder to nick them, such as putting grease on them so you need pliers to remove etc.... Sorry to hear about your mis-fortune, still yet to get my replacement ones. The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | We get lots of people, BMW & MINI owners, coming in to us for 4 valve caps. They're nicked very often. ![]() First thing I did with my new MINI before hitting the road with it was to swap the caps for ordinary black ones. Yes, they don't look as good, but I'd much rather avoid people taking an unhealthy interest in my car full stop. |

![]() Hacked the IBUS | Sorry this makes me laugh, The dust caps are 20p each from the dealer? Some Guy off Ebay (who probably works in MINI factory as he is in Oxfordshire and selling other MINI stuffs) has got a auction for dustcaps, the current price is £2.20 and £1 for P+P ! |

Offline | Had my MCS for 6weeks now without the dust caps disapearing....until today But guess what I colared the little bast@*d that took them and when he went to give me the 4 he had pinched off mine he also handed me 2 (lockable UJ ones) from my wifes Cooper and the 4 that went missing off the BMW 318 courtesy car I had the other day. Threatend the little ***** with the police (I know they are only 20p each but what else would he want to take) and frog marched him to his parents, who by the sound of it gave him what for, and told them that I will be calling the police next time. So a result for me at least ![]() EB/W - CHILLI PK - VIS PK - S/ROOF - MFSW - TRIP - NOW WITH CLEAR REARS - FRONT SPOTS - CD CHANGER - STRIPES - JC SIGNATURES |

Offline | mine are gone too, i think black plastic are the way too go until the craze wears off. We had a Honda badge nicked about eight years ago, remember that craze? at least this does'nt damage the paintwork (cost a fortune, metallic change colour type paint) |

Offline | Thats curious, my 2nd hand MINI also came with no caps, I thought it was strange that the previous owner had lost them (he seemed a bit anal with these things). Maybe they too were stolen? How weird... Anyways, am getting new ones at todays service. Riccardo 12/02 Cooper Indi Blue/White |
