Interestingly 3 out of 4 of mine were knicked in the first month

However bought a new set from halfords which look to be exactly the same as the originals.

Just had two nicked last week. Too bad I had already voted "no" a while back. This is the first time in 28 years of car ownership that I've had valve caps stolen.

17p for Christ sake! can't the little buggers cycle down to the nearest BMW dealer and buy one? What's 17p? You can't even buy a packet of crisps for 17p!

Oh, and another thing. If you have to replace a tyre, make sure they put the metal caps back on.

Well even though its an old post I thought I would add the theft of my dust caps to Mini2.

Some kid (14 ish) nicked them off the drive of my in-laws on Saturday morning.

Apparently it's the latest craze. Kids eh!

At least the badge was left alone.

Sorry arabinow, but we're not immune in Canada. On Christmas Eve one of my new winter tire hubcaps disappeared. A novel Christmas gift for someone I guess.

This happened in an out-of-the-way residential area in Ottawa.

Why can't the little *****s just put a brick through the window? It is much quicker, only costs 50 quid to put right, and doesn't affect your no-claims bonus (not when you claim a stone from a passing truck hit it, anyway!). Attacking the locks always costs around a grand, and makes a mess of your NCB.

As for the valve caps, mark them with a mark, find the BMX with them on, and trash it! Then leave a note saying what happens when someone nicks your valve-caps.
Please don't - you'll end up in big trouble. Shame, 'cos it might make them think twice before doing the same again.

Ouch

I never leave anything on view in my car. Some pr*cks will break into your car to steal anything.

I've had the dustcaps stolen as well as having the rear badge taken off with a screwdriver. It is just annoying, thankfully nothing has happened for quite a while. (quick need to find some wood )

when I was in high school here in Seattle, someone broke into my car. I looked and looked, and couldn't see anything taken. So I took off. A few days later, I went to throw a piece of trash into my litter bag... it wasn't there. The *******s stole my garbage! I used an old Tower Records bag as a garbage, and I guess they thought it was full of CDs or something. So I guess you're right; they really will steal anything... even your rubbish, if you're not careful.

United-Kingdom Valve Caps

I've just had my valve caps nicked this morning whilst my new Cooper was parked at work.

They're just the normal brass ones, I don't think they even had a MINI logo on them.

I am worried about this situation also.

I am thinking of getting some valve caps which are anti theft ones, then you are not liable to worry about them being stolen or getting a flat, as someone has let the air out.
I have found these at motor mania : http://www.motormania.co.uk/product_...?intDescID=540

I found that I only had two left the other day.

I got some anti-theft 'COOPER' valve caps from http://www.speeding.co.uk. Good service and delivery times.
They look good too. :-)

I've just ordered some caps from...
http://www.spin-caps.com
They had a good review on Mini2, and cost me just over £8.
