I have noticed on the canadian website.. you can now build a MINI COoper Classic that is cheaper than the mini cooper.

However

I have yet to find detailed info on exactly what is a mini cooper classic?

anyone have an idea?

Seems like just the bog standard Cooper with only the solid colours available with 7 hole wheels

yes but the base price is around 3 grand cheaper than the cooper . It has to be something more than that.

Go to build my MINI and choose the Classic and you'll see what it is.

No ASC+T standard or optional (no DSC optional either). That's most of the price difference, plus lack of Xenon headlamps (not an option here but probably $400-500) and metallic paint (used to be a $600 option, now 'free' on the Cooper).

As Kinster said, only colours available are the solid ones, red/white, pepper/black, flat black/white and yellow/black and only wheels available are 7-hole (with MINI Mobility Kit only I think, no spare even available).

Only options are heated seats and CVT transmission. No sport seats. No cloth, leatherette only. As I said, no Xenon lights, just halogens with no washers just like our Launch Edition MINIs.

Lack of ASC+T is a bummer as it can't be added later. Seats can be changed, wheels are easy. A repaint would be very expensive.

It has sport suspension (and I'm pretty sure it has a tach) so along with the Cooper engine, it's not quite a MINI ONE spec.
