The only thing that has ever killed a forum for me is the people that run it and manage it, if rules change, peoples attitudes, trust is broken and they go off on their agenda not thinking about its users/members feelings or thoughts, then members generally stop posting, forum dies the end.

Seen this happen to a great site that I used to post on, but hey there are other websites to play on if a forum dies so its not the end of the world and there are far more important things in life like looking after yourself, your health, your friends and family than websites.

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

Keep in mind that most people join forums to interact with others that have similar interests. If the desire was to just gain info by reading the great exalted wisdom of others there would be no need to join a forum. Just visit and read. I find the "remember how cool it was when we first started the forum and it was just us cool guys here attitude" to be more annoying.
Yes , I just joined and I'm excited about my Cooper. Like a kid at Christmas. I asked about waving and several people were polite and replied. It didn't dawn on me that I should do a search on waving. I was making my first attempt to talk to others who also love Mini's. If I have to make sure my post hasn't been beaten to death before I post it, maybe it's best to just wave at other Mini drivers and imagine they are in some way like me.

Agreed, and welcome to M2.

Personally, I think tgreads older than 18months should be deleted, if there are no new posts. The search button should only be used when no one currently using the forum can answer the question quickly.

Otherwise, its like being the new child in school. You dont know anything, people wont talk to you nicely, you find it hard to build relationships.

Old information in threads is probably out of date anyway, no longer relevant. If it was still relevant, we'd still be talking about it regularly.....

Forums are about interaction

It does seem that the 'search the threads' reply is being used less now though...
