Offline | OK, that's the forum death subject discussed. Now how about Newbies? Do you think Newbies are scared to post in OT+B because of all of our banter? Do you think that we are so familiar with each other that, from an outsider perspective, we seem to be quite a "closed" group? There have been a few Newbies posting around, but I see that there's 450 odd people logged in, but no new posts! Do we scare them away, or seem unfreindly? It would be interesting to hear a newbies opinion on this, so please don't be afraid to post! ![]() |

Offline | You may have a point ButtonIt. I wouldn't class myself as a newbie and I don't get much time in the day to check what's going on in OT&B. I don't post there that much because threads appear and grow so quickly it's difficult to read them all and join in! And also I think threads started by 'non-regulars' tend to vanish quicker! ![]() |

![]() Man about the house | Most of the 450 ppl logged in are guests.. i.e. they haven't registered (and can't see OT&B) and are probably just looking for info. Actually, I'm terrified of OT&B. I avoid the place as much as I can ![]() Seriously though, I'd still class myself a newbie (only 400 posts) although I've been on 2 runs and actually been coming to this site for over a year. It's only since January that I've actually contributed in any big way but now I'm hooked on OT&B and Social forums. I think the pressure of OT&B is to get noticed, and not get put of by any clichés. | Awwww %%%% it! | It's always been like it to be honest - you have to shove your way in and get noticed. But I guess it's the same as life in general. Maybe we need a "newbies post here" thread in OT&B so tehy can enter in a more relaxed manner ........... before the initiation ![]() |

Offline | Some people have the front and bolshy enough to come charging into the Sewer ![]() Yes, I agree, it is not for the un-initiated, and newbies need gentle guidance and more looking after ![]() TBH, I don't read every single posts and threads in the Sewer, and there are certain people and subjects that I avoid altogether ![]() When you are time poor, you learn to be smart with choosing posts that are of interests to you ![]() DK :apple: |

| MINI Traitor | I reckon a newby forum would be a good idea as it might help overcome newby fear of posting. Could be a good place for "I just got a chillie Red Cooper...." posts. Then a few experienced members pop in and congratulate them. I've seen it used well on a fish forum I occasionally visit. ![]() |

OBE, you still haven't corrected the spelling in that thread titttle sometimes it's good to check up on those silly boys in the S Speccin thread as well... ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Still a Newbie really and everyone has been great on MINI2. At times when I've felt like I've butted in on a banter thread, the regulars have gone out of their way to include me (which is so cool considering that I've not been to any of the meets and no-one's actually met me in the flesh yet). So, no complaints from me, and don't see any issues with being excluded as a Newbie. If there's something worrying me about MAX, this is still the first place I come, and when MAX is ok, still like to visit to read all the witty comments people make in the banter threads. Of course, there are nuts in this community.... and we're made to feel welcome too! ![]() |

Offline | God help us a Maggot Drowner! ![]() Fishing competitions are the bane of my life when on a narrow boat on the English Canal system some want you to speed up to disperse the sediment/food in the cut and others complain that 1mph is too fast still others try to knock off your hat 'by accident' as they lower the huge rods that they just raised (at the last moment) to let you pass How do you fit those long rods into your MINI S BRG/W Randolph 3 PAC NAV Mid Coast Maine, U.S.A. ![]() |
