Offline | Thanks ButtonIt, I think at the end of the day you post and join in or you don't - simple as that! The only person I know is Mad Brummie, because I have had a bit of banter with him on another site - but at the end of the day its down to the individual. Jump in and post or sit and don't *Wibbly shrugs his shoulders and wonders whats next* ![]() | MINIaddiction | | For MIDLANDS Folk in their MINI's

Offline | Agreed. I've been registered since September 2002, and OT&B is one of fhe places where I just don't go. I find it a bit intimidating to be honest (don't laugh). Like Wibbly says, it seems like there's a hard core of people who post in there, all of whom know each other really well, a bit like a University frat or something along those lines. Actually, I did post in there twice last night, but I didn't half feel self-conscious doing so! I'm sure that you're all perfectly nice and not as scary as I imagine, but taking those initial steps and becoming a properly integrated member of society, sorry, OT&B seems a little daunting, especially if, like me, you're not a naturally extrovert person. I'm usually very shy and quiet, so intruding into this tight-knit community is a big deal for me. Okay, you can stop laughing now, I'm all done... <<runs off and hides>> |

Offline | Welcome wibbly ![]() I guess I do know a few MINI2ers quite well, but then I was a newbie once too ![]() The more meetings and events you go to, the more MINI2ers you meet and get to know. Hence, I would advise you to come to as many meets as you can, preferable overnighters or longer, as you can REALLY get to know people!!! ![]() As for OT&B, start your own thread if you feel intimidated about posting in existing threads - most people do ![]() DK :apple: |

![]() Some have THICK skins!!!! | I think your fitting in just fine. It took me ages to really get into OT&b and meeting people does sometimes help. But not always - I haven met that "over posting yappy newbie" ScottyB but chat to him as much, if not more, than anyone else on M2. Recent additions to the people I chat to a lot on the forums would include you, Minnie, Phanny, Smurfn etc etc etc The only way to do it is to get stuck - I mainly got there through the rep thread - now sadly underused as there still isn't any rep, but any thread will do! Perhaps I'll add you as a permanent member of our banter thread rather than an occasional guest of honour ![]() Paul ![]() |

| Awwww %%%% it! | It's good to see this, posted back in May, and it goes to show OT&B needn't be a place of fear for newbies. Wibbly is now a seasoned vet, a regular and spouts as much dross and stupidity as the next man/woman in there Good to see some positive for a change, come on folks OT&B is a madhouse, come join the fun - often sensible debate, often outright stupid debate, often mindless silly post ....... but always just fun. If you're shy pm one of the regulars and they will look after you until you get your feet Key thing to remember .... do not feel you need to join in every thread, if one is stupid or not to your humour, ignore it and look at another thread instead ![]() |

Offline | I've not been online much for a few weeks, been quite unwell. Apart from that, the stats are very good, looking like the third bussiest month on record for MINI2 (after August and July), so stats are good. Not been on enough recently to judge the vibe, but any party is less fun without Mr.Mullett. ![]() ![]() Our trials and tribulations living in a "bleeding edge" eco house... Oxley Woods Living |

Offline | I think thats a compliment I still stand by my original comments and sure other 'newbies' like me will agree that its just a case of joining in and stay joining in... and hey presto! one day people start answering you back I still feel like one of the 'outsiders' looking in at times, but think that is understandable, there is a lot of history prior to me posting here, so its interesting to see others perceptions, but I got to say, I enjoy most of the banter on here.... But then again my sense of humour is as inane and daft as it gets so maybe that helps ![]() | MINIaddiction | | For MIDLANDS Folk in their MINI's
