Filling up with super unleaded/optimax

Is it recommended to fill up with super unleaded/optimax, from a virtually empty tank? I have to fill up in the next 2 days, so I want to try optimax. Any ideas?

The more of the good stuff you've got in your mix, the better.

Couldn't agree more!

You'll definately notice a smoother throtle response with some Optimax go-juice!

Makes my Cooper feel a little faster too.

Listen out for word on the Street about where you`re nearest dealer is.
Pull on to the Forecourt at the furthest "O" Recepticle from the road
Head down as you get out of the Car, A Full Hood helps
Try & get in the Cashiers Blindspot behind the Delivery System
Look around & be aware of any CCTV positions
Approach the Filler Neck with Caution, & Flip the Cap
Select the correct "O" handle, getting it wrong here could be costly
Wait for the indication that a previous customer has paid for the Goods
Grip it hard & Gently insert it into the hole,
Expect to feel some resistance if its you`re first time
When satisfied with its location, Firmly push it All the way in & Hold
Pull back the lever & Feel the Throbbing sensation Surge through your hand.
Does this feel Good?
Filling an Empty Virgin tank may take some time, Dont be embarrased,
Next time it will be over more quickly, although Feel just as pleasurable.
Dont pull out until you hear a click, or maybe, a slight wetness down your leg
Reinsert the handle into the correct pump
Almost over, but like all good things, you now have to Pay for it
Everybodys paid for it at sometime, even if they deny it by doing an occaisional runner
Get in the queue at the counter, dont worry, no-ones looking at you
When it comes to your turn, simply give the number of the one you were with
Dont be unduly Alarmed about the Price, It`ll be worth it
Its best if you pay by cash, Untracable & you cant be found out later by tell tale reciepts
Quickly get back in the Car, make sure you`re "done up", & turn the key
Everything may seem as normal for the first few miles, but Then...
..Choose an Open piece of road & ensuring you`re not being followed, come to a halt.
Switch all non-essentials off - AC / CD / DSC - & Floor that Throttle !
Has that Engine ever Sounded so Good ?
Have your Senses felt More Alert ?

Couldn't agree more, but I use Optimax as rare as shell garages are near me, BP gargaes are non existent (I know of 1! )

Just had Autoexpress' weekly newsletter and it seems that BP are about to release a new performance fuel of their own. Initially available at 400 outlets & nationwide by January.

I just filled up with Opti and must say there hasn't been a marked difference to the previous Texaco 95 stuff. Mind you, I've only done 25 miles so far...

Am curious to see if I get any more miles off a tank.

LOL @ Restyle's post

I was finally persuaded to spend the extra dosh and give the Optimax a go

<----- CONVERTED

The car respons so much better, seems to pull better at lower revs even and has more pace to it. Wasn't sure if it was all in the head or not , and maybe the engine had just loosened up a bit now it had 2000 miles so I filled up this time with bulk standard unleaded - and wish I hadn't

The Optimax DOES make a difference. What I'm not sure and will try out is whether other ordinary super unleaded will have the same or similar effect

I put Optimax (a Shell brand so only sold by them) in the MINI and not the X5 which is also meant to be on 97/98 RON

Nothing wrong with using "ordinary" unleaded
I think I would die if I filled up a 90 ltr tank at 84p a ltr!

It's very strange that Shell can put Optimax at 5p per litre on top of regular, whereas BP and other put on around 10p per litre for their "super" unleaded
That's one of the resons I use optimax

I've also noticed that the new car manual has changed. Before it said you should use 97 ron and 95 is acceptable. Now it says use 95 ron and 97 is acceptable

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime
