Unhappy Keyed my own MINI!

Would you believe it!

Getting Alfie (baby) out of the MINI yesterday, I forgot I had my keys shoved losely in my jeans pocket.

After a scraping noise that made me feel horrible it came back to me pretty quick, but too late. I now have a very small scratch on my lovely new paintwork. I'm sure I'll be able to sort it out easily, it's really not that bad, but what a fool I feel.

D'oh!
Well if it makes ou feel better here's mine.
When my car was stuck in my yard,as if that isn't bad enough, during our recent hurricane I was tryig to dig the car out.
In trying to cut through a root I whacked the crap out of the side of my car. The skirt caught the most of it but I now have a nice chip missing out of my car.
If I hadn't been worried about dying I might have gotten more upset.
Even worse if I'd just moved the car to the mall like my wife suggested nothing would have happened, No stuck,no chips and no roof dents.

Eeek... as if the first scratch isn't bad enough, when you do it yourself, its so much worse. I scratched the bumper putting a box into the boot a few weeks after I got the car. I swear that was the only good thing about my car getting totalled. I knew I could stop being mad for scratching it. (I'm not sure if that's comforting, but at least I can sympathize)

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

Sorry to hear the bad news Paul, like GMINI03 said can you do a before and after for us and what you use to fix it, as I know I have a few fine scratches from a cat on my bonnet so it would be most useful.

Hope it all gets sorted soon and easily.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Paul. If you have scratched through the paint, you may want to consider getting someone to do a paint blend for you. I have had several issues like this on my black Talon, and have had it fixed by a local guy (Master Blend). He has also done work for me on my father's pearl white cadillac and in both cases you can not tell that they have had any paint work. It is usually quite inexpensive, $100-$200 US depending on the location of the scratch/gauge on the car. The guy I uses does lots of work for the local BMW dealership here in Raleigh and I have always been impressed. Hope you get it sorted out soon!

that's a bit rough, it wasn"t alfie's fault afterall!

sorry to hear this paul, hope you can fix it easy enough. unlike what someone else said above, i actually find it easier to deal with self inflicted scuffs - at least you know who did it. i'll never know who keyed my car, and i'll never get to exact a fitting punishment, which bugs me most, i find.

anyhow thanks for the warning, for no good reason i sometimes let my keys hang off the edge of my pocket while needing both hands for something quick. i'll quit doing that. keys in pocket, all the way.

Also did a damn fool thing - kerbed a 17" alloy in a big dipper gutter, in a narrow road - compliments of Poole Borough Council. Feel a right plonker!

I know how you feel - I made the first and only dent on the rear chrome insert by reversing into a barrier
