United-States My Sunroof Flag Is Unfurled

After 6 months of incident-free motoring with my vinyl cling sunroof flag in place at regular highway speeds, I learned that exceeding 90 for an extended period of time results in the flag ripping off the roof and traveling to parts unknown. A lesson to those who are considering the benefits of a "removable" graphic but who intend to do extended highway miles.

As I've really grown to like the flag but wasn't too fond of the moonroof being blocked anyway, a permanent perforated replacement is on order.

I was actually worried more about that than losing the flag. I heard the ripping sound when the decal on the rear sunroof section came off first and watched in my rearview mirror as it landed on the median of the New Jersey Turnpike. Same deal with the front section although that part blew into the woods in Virginia.

Absolutely! It only goes to show that MINI's are kind-hearted vehicles and are considerate even when shedding their (aftermarket) parts.

Best reason I've heard for an upgrade to perforated yet.

Just a question, did you install the decal yourself? or was it professional? (not that one is better then the other, just wondering to compare if it happens to anyone else)

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

Just guessing but I'd assume he installed it himself since it was designed to be removable it was probably on and off a few times. Its a theory anyway

I'm planning on ordering the perforated sunroof Union Jack for my MCS that arrives Nov. 15. Am I at risk of that coming off at high speeds? I don't *think* it's designed to be removable, but it certainly it a sticker of some sort.

I'm getting the one they sell at Mossmini.com

I have had my static-cling flag on for about 5 months. I have had three of the four leading edge corners come "unglued". I heard a flapping noise, pulled over and either removed that part of the flag or just put a little more water on and pressed it down. I have never had more than a piece the size of my hand come up at one time. Yes, I have been known to travel above the posted limit.

I lost the front half of mine while driving in a rainstorm on the highway. I have a new one ready to go but I'm waiting til next summer to put it on. When I do, I'm going to use doublesided adhesive tape (thin, not thick) on the leading edges to make sure it stays.

I also lost my roof flag in the rain. It was one of those vinyl cling ones. Came off at 5 AM while on my way to work, nobody else on the road, so nobody hurt. I plan on getting one of the adhesive versions soon although I really don't like the fact that the only ones I have seen have 49 not 50 stars. Think I might go with the checkerboard instead.
