| MINI2 Master | The MINI D I was driving was rear ended at speed this morning. It stood up to the impact remarkably well and wasn't too bad to look at. It's damaged the rear suspension, broken the drivers seat and set off the pre-tensioner on the seat belt amongst the general rear end stuff you'd expect... I have headbutted the steering wheel quite nicely and the seatbelt has yanked my right shoulder quite badly, but I'm still alive I think. ![]() |

Offline | Ouch, sorry to hear about your bump. Must have been pretty bad if you haedbutted the steering wheel. Sounds like your head bounced off the headrest and was flung forward. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

| MINI2 Master | The other chap was driving a refrigerated Mercedes van (heavy!) and as far as I could tell he came out of it unscathed. Don't know if his airbag went off, but I'd expect it did as he hit me at probably 40mph+ and I was near stationary. The little MINI D was shoved forward by about 25 to 30 yards... ![]() Was impressed by when I realised the engine was stopped and the hazards were on without me doing anything! I'm in some pain now (especially my shoulder) and will be seeing my Doctor later. ![]() |

Offline | Get well soon Steve. Pleased to hear that the Mini took relatively good care of you. If you saw 5th Gear on Monday you'd know what I mean. Don't be too ready to accept an offer of settlement though. Whiplash can be a legacy. |

Offline | Ahh, bl**dy white van man strikes again. The way people drive these vehicles (i.e. way too fast for the handling and braking capabilities) scares me all too often. Hope you have a speedy recovery Steve. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

| MINI2 Master | My neck is beginning to feel stiff and I've a worse headache now than earlier and my shoulder is a lot more painful now... Adrenaline is potent stuff! Sure blocked out a lot of the initial pain, but it's definitely worn off now! ![]() Will let you know what Doc says. How's the car Steve? Any kind of rough estimate on cost yet? |

Offline | "K.B.O." Steve! Sorry to hear about your pain comin' on, Steve. Q: Didn't the front airbags in your MINI inflate? At the speed of the collision you're talking about, the MINI should've guessed the ramifications of the force & protected you better, wrapping you entirely with its airbags, all around. MINI are quite light cars comparatively. Q: Which air bags did inflate, if you don't mind the study questions, Steve? [Of course, I'm interested to know how the MINI's driver's seat flexed backwards to help ward off some of that impact momentum from your neck & back. I'll save that all for later....]Just get better now, Steve! ![]() |
