Offline | Another vote for 98RON SHELL Optimax here (UK). Actually its the wifes car, and she goes mental if I put anything other than Optimax. Funny how she still saves the Safeway petrol vouchers when we go shopping for my 'inferior' car and bike though..... ![]() |

Offline | Years ago, here in the states, Esso put soo much red dye in their fuel, that when I would rebuild a carburetor for someone, I could always tell it they used Esso. The insides of the caburetor would be stained blood red. My first job was pumping gas at a Amoco station back in the late 60s. Premium was like 43 cents a gallon and clear as water. Today, BP buying out Amoco, who know what it really is. BP says it's Amoco but it's hard to tell these days. I try my best to buy from high volumn stations and always use 91-93 octane no matter what it cost. The little extra the premium cost ofver the cheap stuff is nothing to what it'll cost to fix a burnt piston or valve from detonation. |
