Offline | Firt of all i wanted to say hello to everybody here on the forum. and i dont know if i posted this in the correct folder (i hope so )So, i am planning to buy a mini. To be more exactly a mini one. The reason why i buy the mini one over the cooper is that its cheaper ![]() I have read alot about the new mini and came to some kind of a conclusion. - Pure silver ( i find that this color shows class )- pannther black leatherette/ panther black or silver grey (not diceded about what would be best for the interior the silver gret or the black) - sport seats (they just look so much better than the regular ones) - Chrome bumpers (no id about this, but i think it would look great on the silver) - Sport suspension (not sure about this, it doesn't changes much about the look of the car. So i have been told by a dealer. If it only makes things stiffer than i think i would drop this. Because i read some things about feeling the road bumps etc to good whit the stiff suspension.) Need some help white deciding this one - 7 hole wheels or 8 spoke wheels (no id what would look best) - about the interior of the car: silver or is the standard anthracite also nice? - onboard computer ( i think there are some usefull things on it) - boost radio + cd (you need to have some good music) Like u see i dont have to many options picked, mostly because i just find alot of things not needed Like the asc+t, dcs III: i read some things about it and came to the cunclusion that i wont take it (unless somebody can convinse me otherwise) So what do you peeps think, are there things i just must buy? Things that i dont need? Any help is usefull THX |

| Gone Motoring! | I would get the sports suspension for sure, also love the Xenon lights, none of the other options are really needed... and that includes your metallic paint (pure silver)... we have panther black 'ette with panther black with silver dash, and IMO it looks amazing like that. Silver dash doesn't cost more over here though, if it did, I don't think I would've gotten it. I would also get the OBC and Rev Counter (which is not standard on the ONE, IIRC)... --Andrew |

Offline | Hi and welcome to Mini2 Where you from in Belgium? Nice colour, the Pure Silver. (got it myself) The chrome bumpers is definitely much better than the standard on the one. If you do that you'll also need to change the lit of the trunk. On a One that's also black. I have the sport suspension on mine and it's really great. But it depends what you're gonna do with it. If you want more fun, go for the sport suspension. the board computer is quite a handy tool, fuel consumption, temp outside, average speed,... nice gizmo. Check if you have the fog lamps on a ONE now .. don't know exactly.. but I think that's also a must. BTW: I got some 16" 5spokes from MINI for sale, should you be interested. |

Offline | Make sure you order a chrome gearknob. Couldn't believe it when I got my new car and found they'd swapped the lovely chrome one for a plastic chrome-look one! I'd also go for the multi function steering wheel. |

Offline | Cau, Napoleon YES. It's the only way to get Cruise Control [as far as I know]. Maybe that's not a priority for you if you don't take long drives, though. I don't know. Your specs look gr8, m8! MINI's Sport Seats are a must for the twisties, - good choice! & The 7 "Holeys" are fab too, IMO [though the 8 spokes are more classicly styled to the MINI/Mini heritage: http://www.mini2.com/gallery/persona...a/sideview.jpg (Cheers, MONSTA!) FACTORY WHEELz LINKY OK. I KNOW: We love MINI's heated seats. Tush-warmers, we call 'em, yield a good driving dynamic, too. They allow you to flush cool air up onto the windscreen for de-fogging OR to keep yourself more alert at the end of a hard day at work or long day of driving across Europe, - while you remain very warm simultaneously. *They also compensate for heat quite well, while your MINI warms-up during cold weather. ![]() Regardless, - welcome, congratulations, get ready to reap the rewards of making one of the best decisions of your life! ![]() Last edited by SugarBelly : Oct 29th, 2003 at 11:21 PM. |

Offline | Pure Silver? Looks ok but I prefer something a bit more flashy. Silver and grays blend right into their surroundings. If you have any interest in safety, you got to go with the Yellow or other bright color. Hey, if you didn't want to be seen, you could have bought some japanese car and no one would notice you at all. Same with the interior. I love the contrast of the Lapis Blue and black. Red and black leather would look great too. Sport seats are the only way to go. I've never seen a car yet where the standard seats were anywhere close as good as the optional seats. If you're not getting a MCS, then by all means get the chrome bumperettes. I wouldn't want my Mini with any other suspension. While there are plenty on here complaining about the ride of the sport suspension and 17 inch wheels, it still rides better than my Corvette and just as good or better than the Escort the MCS replaced. Here, I gotta say I really don't like the looks of any of the standard wheels. As soon as I settle up with Uncle Sam in April, I'll be looking for a set of polished 5 spoke wheels similar to the ADR Fuel wheels. I chose the Anthracite. The Silver, while it's brighter, just looked cheap to me. The on-board computer is fine to play with if you get bored. Myself, I check the fuel mileage after the first fill up and could care less what it is now. Fill it up and go have fun. The only time I keep the revs under 3 grand is when the cops are near by. The $550.00 US was a lot for the Harmon Kardon, but it's worth every penny to me. As for the multi-function wheel, I wanted the cruise control and didn't think I'd like the radio controls on the wheel. As it turns out, it's the radio controls that I like and use the most. But all this is just my opinion. You're the one that has to be happy with what you end up with. Just remember that if you're financing the car, a thousand dollars worth of options cost very little more per month. You'll be much more happy paying an extra 50 a month for the car exactly the way you want it, than paying for a car you settled for that doesn't have all the goodies. ![]() |

Offline | k, after reading some of the suggestions and reading abit more on the Net i came to this conclusion: Mini One Pure silver Kaliedo Panther black/ Silver grey 5 Spoke design wheels Interior in Antrazit Sportseats Rear spoiler Outside mirror in chrome Chrome-line exterior Small safety wheel ITS headairbag Leather Cooper S stearing wheel Sport suspension Radio Boost + CD Changing the lit of the trunk to chrome was not an option, maybe here in belgium its in the packet "Chrome-line exterior", i dunno ... I also didn't saw anything about a chrome gear knob I have some Brochures here at home whit options etc in but these where not metioned in them. I did the composing of te mini whit the Online belgium "mini configurator" I didn't go for these things below because: The flashy collers: its just not my style ![]() The multi function wheel: Here in belgium i dont realy need cruise control, the buttons to control the radio aint worth it for the money it costs the xeon lights: In Belgium every street/road is lighted verry good the OBC: just something i wouldn't use, so no need spending money on it. ps. I live in Zele, close to lokeren and Dendermonde |

| MINI2 Irritant | I aint getting into the AC debate again - but i disagree!!! - ask any dealer when you come to trade or sell AC helps the car more with residuals that any other option & is the the 1st thing buyers ask when looking at a used car. apart from "is it nicked" |

Offline | I'm sure it's a good thing to have but at £600 so it should be. I recently talked to a dealer about trading in my car on a new one and he made no mention of the fact that my car not having AC was an issue. Also, they had two cars ready for sale in the showroom (a ONE and Cooper), none had AC and neither did their demonstrator Cooper. I'm sure it's not such an issue in the frozen north I decided to wait until next year BTW and now with the talk of the slight re-style my mind is definitely made up to wait. Red/Black R56 Cooper |
