Offline | At Halloween, do you take any precautions against possible vandalism of your MINI? Just curious, I know that Halloween is not only a great time for little kids to go trick and treating, but unfortunately a time for a lot of mischief, pranks and vandalism. I know that owning a MINI brings out the kid in us, but I'm worried that it may bring out the 'devil' in others on Halloween!!! Since my MINI is parked on the street, I think I'm going to stay up a bit later than usual to make sure that no misfortune befalls her. Anyone ever take added precautions, or am I just making much ado over nothing? Last edited by milliethemini : Oct 30th, 2003 at 01:56 AM. |

Offline | Yup, in the city. I have to thank my colleague at work for even putting the seed of fear in my head, we were talking about Halloween at work and he just happened to mention that he read somewhere that statistically the rate of vandalism on motor vehicles peaks at Halloween. Well, my MINI is not going to be part of those statistics if I can help it!!! |

Offline | Glad you like my city!!! We Vancouverites would not want to live anywhere else. I used to live in the West End, the city centre, now I live in one of the surrounding neighbourhoods, but still more urban than suburban. Nah, nothing like having the MINI in clear view of my living room window, and my baseball bat perched by my side while I'm watching a late night movie to 'dissuade' any evil activity!!!! I always leave the porch lights on at night anyways, that will help too! |

Offline | I have spent the last year cultivating a pumpkin with elephant dung (from the zoo) and Miracle-Gro. I now have a 15 foot diameter pumpkin which I can park my MINI inside...... no flies on me!.........(there are some on the dung though) |

Offline | I'm in the city, on the street, and they're few treaters. Will take my car and my wife's to a restaurant, then take my chances on the street over the wee hours. |

Offline | I have a sheet of clear polythene which I keep for "Special occasions" such as this. Just throw it over the car at night. It's a shame that we have to think and worry about our cars like this ![]() |

Offline | You could always try some of these (found on internet): Lighter Side of Car Protection Ever worry about leaving your poor car all alone on the street? Even the best security systems can be bypassed by the clever crook. Here are a few suggestions that might seem a bit unusual, but will help alleviate your "latch key" car guilt. 1. Circle your car with yellow "Crime Scene--Do Not Cross" tape and trace the chalk outline of a fallen body on the hood. 2. Leave out a key and detailed directions to a bigger, newer, better-equipped car that's nearby. 3. Surround your car with visible trip wires, which when tripped activate a tape recording of a bomb ticking. 4. Scatter fake bloodstains on and around the vehicle. 5. Don't organize your car interior after the weekend. The average criminal will mistake the mess for a vehicle that already has been ransacked. 6. Create a mannequin of a thief, such as you would a more traditional Halloween scarecrow, and place him inside the vehicle to deter any subsequent criminals. 7. Stencil "Property of the (fill in local town) County Sheriff's Department" prominently on the doors, or casually leave a worn sheriff's shirt hanging over the back of the driver's seat. 8. Post any or all of the following signs on your dashboard: Condemned, Seized Property of the DEA, Hazardous Waste Inside, Warning: asbestos present. |

Offline | The Beetle got egged last year. Totally random, some kids standing in the woods on the side of the road tossing them at anything that moved. I will be parking my cars well off the road and staying home this year. Mike 2003 MINI Cooper S Chili Red 2005 Jetta GLI |

Offline | Well I am sure to get some egging or shaving cream. Will be heading into Manhattan on Halloween night to a party. It will be late night but I am sure eggs and shaving cream will be flying ... Thank God that Saturday looks like a nice warm day so I can give Zipper a bath ![]() |
