Uphill Clutch Problem

In my Cooper S I sometimes find that when I'm at a standstill uphill and then get ready to go, I can't get anywhere. I keep accelerating and lifting the clutch, but the car doesn't move... and then there's that stinky clutch smell. Is it me or does my car need seeing to. Didn't have this problem with my Cooper.

Regards

Sounds to me like it needs looking at!

The clutch on my Cooper has started making a sort of resonant whistling sound at biting point after it's been in use a while, I'm starting to think mine also needs looking at.

Kinster, try the idiots guide to clutch testing, this in no way means you are an idiot
Pull on handbrake, tighter than normal, depress clutch, select 2nd gear, attempt to drive off, if your car makes a very poor effort to get away, obviously you won't go anywhere cause the handbrake is on, you may find that the gear is engaged and your engine is revving up, then your clutch is showing signs of wear, if you simply conk out immediately then your clutch is ok and you need to look elsewhere

Don't sound good though

Has it always been like this? Really sounds like your clutch is slipping.

How many miles have you done? Are you a wheelspin junkie

Well,!!!!, i slipped my clutch badly before, then after about 1000 miles of that the car made a bad grinding noise. The car went in for a new gearbox and clutch, (ALL UNDER WARRANTY

Get it seen to, sounds like ur clutch is knackered!!!!
