Follow me home lights on 2004?

Can someone with a 2004 car confirm how the follow me home lights are suppsed to work? My dealer told me to keep the lights on then turn off the ignition. The manual says to flash the lights. Neither has worked for me. It was supposed to be programmed, but I am thinking that it wasn't. But it would be great if someone with a 2004 can confirm the way to activate them.

Thanks!

Sorry, nevermind. I found my answer. Flash the high beams after the engine is off. Anyone else have a problem with the 2004 lights not working correctly?

my 03 works by having the lights on, then turning the ignition off, removing the key, then turning the lights off. Haven't heard of anyone saying they changed it for '04.

By default it is no active from the factory so perhaps you dealership forgot to prep it

Also if you turn the lights off first then the ignition, there are no "FMH Lights".

I actually just found this thread
http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-discussion/43127-follow-me-home-light.html
which explains how it is supposed to work on the 2004's. But this method doesn't work for me either. Can anyone confirm that the method did in fact change in 2004?

Just had the FMH lights programmed on my Cooper 03. I just turn the ignition off and the lights stay on for 60 seconds. I don't have to do anything.

They have changed it (probably to save time explaining to people that their cars were not faulty), and on '04 cars you do indeed flash. If neither option is working, then you've done your part, and it's pretty obvious they haven't programmed it for you.
