Offline | First I wanted a Cooper, then I started thinking S - Just got back from test drive Hi, I have just got back from my second test drive in a Cooper S. My first one was about 4 months ago. I'm lost for words to be honest. On my first test drive I couldn't stop critising the gearbox but this time it felt soooo much better. Smother and easier change than I rememeber it being. I drove it quite hard (harder than before) and I also can't remember being impressed with the amount of torque the S has, I am now. It even pulls in 6th gear. Acceleration is effortless in all gears though and very powerful, second gear is seriously rapid. I have changed my order from a Cooper to an S. This is something I never thought I would do. When I drove both cars back to back a while ago I prefered the Cooper. I couldn't explain why but I just did. Now, things are very different. I'm trying to figure out whether its me that has changed or the car. Because of extra insurance costs etc I have cut down my many extra's on the Cooper to just air con and MFSW but its a very small price to pay. Overall I will definately reflect on this not to make such a fast decision, I would have been gutted if I was this impressed with the S after purchasing a Cooper. Badboyz |

Offline | I know exactly what you mean. I had my first test drive of a Cooper S about 2 months ago, and to be honest I was stunned!! Firstly the build quality, and general feel of the car seemed outstanding, which I really wasn't expecting. Then for the drive, all I can say is wow!! The car felt so firmly planted to the road, it was amazing. The classic 'go-kart' reference is definately the easiest way to describe it, and as you (badboyzbadboyz) said, the acceleration is fantastic. That supercharger whine, and the great exhaust note definitely add something to the experience too. In fact I was so impressed that I just had to have another test drive a week or 2 later (In a not so highly spec'd MCS! - First one was about £25K!!!) All I can say is that I am very jealous of you at the moment, as I am going to have to wait quite sometime (months), before I can place an order!!! Anyway, how long is your delivery? Rocketman |

| MINI2 Senior | I test drove the S nearly 3 months ago, to be honest I cant remember much about the drive except 4 the acceleration, and the noise from the exhaust. Now its 3 weeks until delivery and I want to drive my S so badly! If horse racing is the sport of Kings, should drag racing be the sport of Queens? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Good choice badboyz. Absolutely nothing wrong with a Cooper (or a ONE of course) but if you really want an S then that's the way to go. What colour are you getting? Oh, if you've got an extra £90 I'd add fogs. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Thanks for all the replys people. I have ordered a Solid Black Cooper S White Roof and White 16 inch 5 Star Alloys. Budget is tight but as the standard Cooper S interior is so nice IMO I'm more than happy with it for no extra cost, bonus. It is in for March Production week so I should be getting it late March early April. They did have a Slot in Jan available but I sadly havn't got the money in Jan. I seriously can't wait now. I feel overwhelmed that at 20 I can afford a Cooper S, I'm far from rich sadly - I swear Ill wake up in a minute ![]() |

Offline | I changed from a Cooper to an S a couple of days ago and the S is fantastic - way better than the one i test drove - I agree so far it seems really well bolted together and I also agree with the torque of the engine - its brilliant. My only problem is I can't get used to reverse being to the left and I keep sticking it in 6th - i expect i'll get used to it though just hope i don't smack anything in the mean time!!
