England Dealer fit heated mirrors and washers

We have just find out that our March 03 Cooper doesn't have the heated washers and mirrors which we paid for!

We only found this out because my girlfriend now works for BMW and can check our order!

The dealer has offered us a cheque for the £40 that we paid for them, but I would much prefer to have the heated mirror and washers.

Can they be fitted by the dealer? I suspect that they can but it would be much cheaper for them to give us the £40 back!

I'm a little p*ssed off that we had to find out but not suprised really

Thanks for your help.
Chris.

yeah, it's not the £40 that's really the issue, more the fact that they never disclosed the fact that they hadn't added them to our order.

Picking our Cooper up just as the weather started getting warmer, they probably knew that it would be at least 7-8 months before we even realised that we hadn't got them.

I thought we had had our last dealings with this dealership after they messed up our order originally - they kindly put a union flag roof on which we hadn't asked for and then scratched the roof when they took it off!! - all got sorted after lots of haggling and aggro but not exactly the start we wanted to our 1st new car that we had waited 4 months for!!

double check does your order or invoice clearly state heated washers and mirrors, remember this is what you signed for and it is also your resposibility to check the order that is given.

I checked the invoice over the weekend and, as we thought, it was definitely ordered and on the final invoice = paid for.

could someone confirm if it is possible to dealer fit these items? the dealer has said that the heated washers can be done but he's finding out about the mirrors (which are the more important of the 2 in my opinion)

If is physically not possible to do then should we just accept the refund of £40? or ask for more??

another salesman I know said, technically it's not the car we paid for and so could pursue more serious routes - seems a bit drastic though!

cheers.

Switch your heated rear window on for a few minutes........then touch the glass in the wing mirrors......they should be "warm" to the touch!

I believe the heating elements are independent of the the rear window element and are always active. Also, the heater for the windshield washer serves to keep the nozzles free of ice and not to warm the fluid.

The wing mirrors don't get very warm, but as Pamlico has said, they should always be on. If its near freezing, they should be noticibly warm to the touch after being on for a while, but they don't get to 40C.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

Has anyone else noticed that because the mirrors are always heated it means that on long runs in bad weather that all the crap that was in the water that gets onto the mirrors gets dried on ?.....

I'm sure they could retro fit really easily.... make them fit them and compensate you for not supplying what you paid for !!!

Having had the sunroof missed off of mine (easy to spot!) I was a bit paranoid & wanted to check everything. After the engine had been running for a few minutes the mirrors were wrm to the touch.

In case I needed confirmation in icy mornings they steam as they defrost!

If they have been missed off you could try and get some freebies - for the missing sunroof I got the original £500 knocked off, and an additional £500 as compensation, and roof chequers supplied & fitted FOC.
