| My Cooper has PDC. I've just uploaded two photos (800x600) to my gallery. The first one is the left hand side of the bumper, showing the one of outer sensors. The second shows the two central ones. Personally, I don't think it looks bad at all. For me it's worth the trade-off to make it less likely that I'll reverse into something! And it's another gadget - always fun. If it has snowed and there's snow on the sensors, make sure you clear the snow off, else it'll beep continuously (in my experience) and take care when you're cleaning the car - you're not supposed to spray water directly at the sensors. PDC is always on when you're in reverse (after a momentary pause for it to become active). You cannot turn it off. You can get your dealer to turn on the optional "PDC is active" beep - the car beeps once when you stick into reverse, so you know it's active. My dealer turned it on for free, which was nice! PDC is fairly unobtrusive and only activates when you're quite close to something in my experiences. I tried it out on my drive at home the day after I got the car and managed to get pretty close to a stationary car before it started beeping. If you have your radio on loud, you might not hear the beeps - it's not that loud at all. PDC is only £200. Bearing in mind that I've spent around £1500 after having a number of reversing accidents, I'd say it's worth it. |

| I have every option on my new MCS except PDC. I didn't get PDC because of the sensors in the rear bumper. I personally don't like the way it looks and it doesn't make any sense to me why car manufacturers don't hide them. I also wonder what the use is on a car this small. My thought is that if you need help backing up a 12' long car, then you shouldn't be driving ![]() (don't take that comment serious, it was meant to be humerous) |
