Unhappy VERY quick question on numberplate mounting

Hi guys,

Just got my 6mm/1mm fixing pads for my numberplates from Halfords. I was advised to get 1mm for the rear, however the mounting points for the screws pertrude out of the bodywork more than 1mm. So it looks like I'll be using the 3 6mm ones I've got on the back.

Then, I've got 6 1mm ones left, so I'm thinking of using 2 1mm pads stuck together on each side of the front one, and a single 1mm in the centre. Will this be ok, with the curvature of the front bumper etc.??

Also, I'm just using water/fairy liquid to clean the surface and the back of the numberplates. Is this ok??

Please help, want to fix them on now! :-)

Mark

Too late, but I think you might be wanting to save up for some new numberplates, fixing points on car and plates need to be really clean , with surgical spirit or isopropyl alcohol and pads need to be the right size. Weather like this and bumping around will have yours missing in no time.

Pads are the right size, wasn't a problem after all. And cleaned well with lots of soap etc. and dried completely. Also made sure temperature was optimal.

Anyone any more thoughts on this?
