Offline | I'd go for a Mazda RX-8. The 5 speed version is great value for £20,000. In fact I may well have got one instead of the MCS, but my wife hated the RX-8 on the test drive, but she loved the Mini!! Cooper S DS/B, Chili pack, Auto AC, MFSW, CD Boost. Ordered 6th Dec 2003, Delivered 16 Jan 2004!! Sold August 2004 Now have a BMW 120D SE - forum details: Babybmw.net |

| My mini is my casket | If Mini's didn't exist I would be driving a Honda Civic SI 2003. Because that is almost what I bought. in many respects, they are almost the same car 160hp -v- 164hp almost the same space in the back, and that SI is one solid car. Its just not as quick as my S so life is good. |

| AWOL | May be a stupid question but is the RX8 available in colours other than Red, seen about 5 or 6 on the road now, but all Red... top gears test car was Red... all press pictures i've seen seem to be Red.... must go along to a Mazda dealer over the holiday and see what the score is !! |

Offline | That has a familiar ring - we didn't even reach a test drive when I showed the wife whatcar.co.uk comparison on residual value As for replacement I'd go for either a Boxter S (if the wife will let go of her 2 seater prejudice ) or an Audi S4. Not sure if they would make it tho' - our current Works beat off a new Merc CLK Convertible as the alternative ![]() ![]() |

Offline | IF I had a Cooper S currently , AND I was looking to replace it, it would definitely be with either a Lotus Elise, S2000, or RX-8 in the price range listed.2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |

Offline | IMHO you must S. Even if the engine is hopped up it's still a ford focus...a cool point downer for sure. The MINI has so much more character than the angular ford. In the states anyway the domestic cars kind of suck, especially in the MINI price range. Not sure how they stack up on this side of the pond. Now this is fun: |

Offline | New - then i would opt for an S with either hartge or jcw kit and many a mod Second hand - I'd be really tempted by the clio V6 255, getting the latest edition second hand could be a slight problem at the mo. If not that then an Elise (or should that be ridiculous go kart.... i love it!) Oh yeah latest shape only, unless it's the exige one which was awesome! |

Offline | Well I have not even got my cooper yet, just sold my clio 172 which was fun, but i have been in a 172 with hybrid turbo conversion, now that was scary! Handling one me over with the cooper! rather than pure power depends on how and where you drive though! could get a 90's 911 turbo, insurance would be bad though! |
