MCS, revs on starting up?

Can anyone with or without an MCS tell me if its normal on starting up that it revs suddenly up to 2000 revs without touching the accelerator.
We`ve just had it since Dec 5th, after nearly 2 yrs with a Cooper and were just a bit curious as to wether this is normal on the MCS.

Dark Silver/Black MCS (Carlisle) - Now Stopped Drooling..............Now sitting in Lloyds MINI very cherished dept!!

Does it stay at 2000, or drop back to 15-1800 ish after a few seconds?

Thats normal for an injected car. It's "pumping the gas" like you would with a carb on a cold day. It may rev higher than normal for 10-20 seconds when its cold untill the auto choak turns off.

Mine does that, like it blips the throttle itself then drops down to tick over, I like it sounds sporty!!!

I don't know how high it revs, but my 2004 MSC does momentairly rev on startup to something over idle. It drops right back to idle though. It sounds to me like the engine is set up to advance the throttle to a set position somewhat above idle during startup to make starting more predicatable and reliable.
