Just wondering how many MINI2ers are also MINI (or other car) club members. I have never had the time to participate in the past have been looking into local clubs recently.

I don't particuarly like car clubs of any sort. Too much segregation the way it is IMO, especially among car enthusiasts. There is quite a few of us around here that hang out together, and we represent all sorts of different types of cars -- everything from American (mostly 4th gen Camaro/Firebirds and Fox/SN95 Mustangs) to imports (I'm the only MINI, we have Supra's, 350Z's, Hondas that are actually fast, etc). We have fun hanging out and just shooting the breeze and welcome everyone who isn't a dumbass. I like the diversity. We're car guys, and we're pretty open minded. Too many narrow-minded people in most car clubs IMO.

I belong to several car clubs, some purely for the fun of it (local autocross club), some for the sheer necessity (Austin Healey club...saved 2 years worth of membership fees when I needed a new front hub for a Forgeye Sprite by buying from another club member), and some to gather like-minded people (I helped form the local Miata club and now our MINI club here in S. Texas). I also hang out with other car clubs when we get together for Cruise Nites, etc. For example, here's a really cool low-rider group we hang out with in San Antonio, and I'm not even into the lowrider thing. We also get various groups together to watch races, rallyes, etc.

As Stirling Moss once said on David Letterman, "It's all about the babes".
