That sort of stuff really annoys me. Why try to make your car look like something it is not?

If I had a MINI ONE with a Superchip, exhaust & Filter I would consider adding the S badge to make it ONEs

Noooooooo

Don't do it!!!

Its "316/318 Beemers, with plastic Wheel trims, Platic Bumbers and piddling exhausts, and then sum naff git sticks an M3 sticker on it to make people think its an M3!!" all over again!

If you've not got an S, don't stick an S on your car! (although Smiffy's One S I think is allowed :P) If you've got a Cooper and you've Turbo'd it or Chipped it then stick a T on it or a C on it, but leave the S for the Cooper S!

I've finished my rant!

Who cares what idiots add to the back of their cars. No one with a M3 sticker is fooling me, even if they spent good money on rims, bumpers, etc... It takes more than an accessory catalogue to make a real M3. Same will go for the Cooper S. Can any of us on this site really say they'll confuse an S from a Cooper because there is a sticker on it?

If someone really wants to go to the trouble of getting a new Bonnet, chrome side vents, front bumper, rear bumper, S badge, new exhaust, new rear wing, etc... Then I think it's tremendously funny. For the money they could have REALLY bought an S.

What a disgrace! How could anyone add a wannabe badge to their car? Might as well join the RiceBoy ranks!

Be proud of the version you have bought!! - they all have their own merits .The fact that we are lucky enough to own a MINI should be satisfaction enough for most !!

It should be easy to spot a Cooper S The scoop, bumper, grilles etc make the S unique or you should be able to spot it as it speeds past

We know this but what about other non MINI people. E.g A Cooper badged as an S has a race with a big mouth driver and loses. After a while he/she will have probably told that many people that the S is slow it may become like a chinese whisper if you see where I'm coming from. sorry if you don't.

Then again at least people in the know will realise how good the S is.

I wouldn't do it for 2 reasons

1. why pretend to have something you don't? It's like stuffing a sock down your trousers, it might look good but when push comes to shove, its a little dissappointment

2. I don't like the S. If someone offered to swap me one for my coop then I'd turn them down

Red/white Cooper with Chilli, AC, ASC+T, Computer, Kenwood MP3, Alarm, 17" wheels, BLOODY BIG SMILE.

It may say Lincoln but oi be Oirish.

Just a thought, if you supercharged your cooper yourself, not using the standard Mini Supercharger, would it be... 'legal' to put the 'S' on?!?

There is rumored to be a kit coming out for the cooper to make it quicjer than the Cooper S so my dealer says through JCW. We'll see, then one may be allowed to have a Cooper S badge!

The MINI Cooper S already has a Cooper S badge on it!

If you're talking about putting a Cooper S on the other MINI's? Well it's just as bad as removing the 'ONE' badge from a MINI ONE. You should be happy with what you got!

Unfortunately one UK company wants to change that:

http://www.autofashion.co.uk/cover%20cars.htm

Scroll half way down the page.

Quoting: "Supply, fit and paint Cooper S replica bodykit. Includes front bumper, bonnet, skirts, rear bumper, spoiler and exhaust"

This little exercise in fantasy will only cost you £2,000!

I hate it when rude boys decide to make their car look like something it isnt?

I see people in 1.4 Escort "Cosworths" with their cheap half finished body kits and I openly laugh at them.

If you have a Cooper, dont try and pretend that it's an S, who are you trying to kid? Be proud of the Cooper!!

Are we being confused with BMW drivers?

(No offence to BMW drivers driving "correctly badged" cars intended!)
