| Smiley Cooper | Kids and MINIs Since getting my MINI a few days, the one thing that's amazed me is how much kids seem to love it. I feel quite flattered by all the attention. ![]() 1 - Stopped at a Zebra crossing to let a woman with a toddler across. Halfway across the toddler just stops and stares at the car for about 10 seconds. 2 - Kid drags his mother across in a car park and says, "You've got a custard mini! I like it!" 3 - Drive past the local school on the way to work each morning, and crowds of kids punch each other (some sort of game when they see a MINI, apparently) and stare. 4 - Whenever I'm behind cars with kids in the back, they're always looking behind at the car. This is a bit embarassing actually! All this in just 5 days of ownership. I dread to think what it'll be like when I get my smiley face roof graphic. ![]() You'd think MINIs would be common enough now that kids wouldn't pay any attention to them. Anyone else have any stories to share? |

Offline | Number 3 is Mini Punch something I discovered late on in Mini ownership also popular in earlier years as Beetle punch. You see a Mini you hit someone and declare Mini Punch or MINI Punch. I was on the way to a crematorioum sad day and all, window down set of traffic lights and a bunch of school kids shout wow thats a Mini Cooper S couldnt help but smile. Shaun |

Offline | I've had kids moving across the back seat of the car just to look out the window as I drive past. The best one though was when I first had the car and I'd stopped at a Burger King. There was this little kid (under 10, I think) walking along the bank at the edge of the parking lot above my car. As I'm getting out, he yells down, "That's a pretty neat looking car!" ![]() '04 MINI Cooper BRG/W, CVT, cold weather package - MINE! ALL MINE!! BWA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAAA! |

Offline | I have also noticed similar stories with my MCS. I also have to add that wives are looking mainly to it more then young girls (I think they still don't have the taste for nice cars). Anyhow the wives that I noticed are firstly having a short look and then telling the husband to have a look. Happens also that kids are pulling mom's hands to make them look. Today I flashed my lights to another driver coming from oppoiste direction and he replied. At traffic lights another one waved me his hand ![]() The best was at the tank station : a guy with mercedes was getting out of the station, he stopped, drove backwards just to come by and say "congratulations". Imagine how you feel afterwards ![]() |

Normally the "in-car game" is I-Spy, but now he's too preocupied looking for minis. I can't wait to see what happens when I actually have my car. I |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Yeah it's amazing how the MINI and the Mini grabs kids attention. I remember playing Mini Punch when I was a kid. Basically the rules go that you must punch everyone when you see a Mini, before they see the Mini and punch you. You cannot punch back someone who punches you first. Simple. Oh and you have to shout MINI PUNCH!!! at the top of your lungs when you do it ![]() ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | Seeing the MINI punch in action on a run is very amusing - just think on this year's Heartbeat Run - 70 odd MINIs going by - there's going to be some very bruised arms in North Yorkshire ![]() |

Offline | Punch game ! It's amazing to see the popularity of the Punch Game in UK. Is this game existing since you all were child and used to play it too ? First time I am hearing it and think doesn't exist in the continent. Does the winner get a coke or a bar of chocolate ? ![]() |
