Offline | BRG....Metallic?????? I recently got my MCS, and after much pondering about my color selection, I ordered an Indi blue/white S, but ended up with a BRG/white one which the dealer had about 6 weeks earlier in nearly identical spec as mine but without the 2004 price increase, even though it's an 04 car. (11/2003 build) I'm very happy, as now I have my MINI, and my color choice was a toss up between those two anyway. One thing I've always wondered is why the MINI BRG is metallic. I could be wrong on this, but wasn't the original BRG historically a non-metallic color? I know it seems trivial, but it's just one of those things that I would love to get some insight on. I don't believe Jag's BRG is metallic. |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | You are right I don't believe the original BRG's were metalic (did it even exist then?). However there is no specific colour that is BRG. Generally a dark green is called BRG. Jaguar F1 team had to lighten their BRG as it looked black on TV. So their BRG is actualy quite a light colour. Anyway the last generation classic Mini had the option of three BRG's. Flat, Metalic and Pearlescent so BRG can come in any paint finish. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

| Now With More Cowbell | I wish I had a link to the article, but a few months back I read an online history of BRG as a colour. It made for a fascinating little pocket history of the colour. In a nutshell, it surmised that there is no one BRG, even among racing teams which were bound to use them as national colours. There have been pale, dark, solid, metallic, pearlescent and flat BRGs. -CW Global Moderator |

Offline | I started off ordering the BRG but just couldn't reconcile myself to the fact that it was a metallic. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's a gorgeous color on the Mini but I guess I was looking for the nostalgic BRG of the old MGB's and XKE's. 2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |
