Funny comments about your MINI

I just got my Indi Blue in December 2003 after waiting only two months. I was prepared for the wait, but not for the comments. Most of them were pretty funny. I'm curious about anyone else's funny stories.

"When my co-worker learned I was waiting for my car to be delivered, he asked if it was coming by way of FedEx.

Another co-worker told me that December was a good time to get my MINI for if the shopping centers parking lots were packed due to the Holiday shopping crowds, I could always park in the cart corral."

Anyone else??

I don't have mine yet but my wife said she was wanted to add a third garage stall: she was going to get a refridgerator box

The best comment is when you're standing there filling the car up at the gas (petrol) station, and someone asks if its electric... Oy!

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

"what's your mini going to be when it grows up?"
"you don't need an alarm, you can just put it in your pocket."
"do you have to pull it backwards to make it go?"

and my personal favorite...
"where are you going to put the kids?"
HA! that's a good one... kids, right!

My co workers said

"They can bury you in it when you die"

" Hey, I think I tripped over your car on my way into work"

" Doesn't it suck to wind it up ever time you want to go somewhere"

" It must be nice to park your car in your locker"

Thats just a few---

I went golfing with some friends and they told me that "It must be nice to have a car that you can drive on the highway and on the fairway".

No comments per se, but whilst sitting at a set of traffic lights, a person wanders in front of my MC, and starts grinning, thumbs up. I wave a hand, and expect them to go on their way... no, they keep getting more and more agitated. Eventually I realise that this person is going crazy over the UJ on the roof... I point to the roof, smile, and then take off PDQ (light had turned green!)

I was in Milton Keynes the other day and saw a bloke with a UJ roof on his MINI and he'd left his wallet on the roof - I kept waving at him and pointing to get his attention but he just grinned, waved back and then sped off .....

All my French mates say "Oh la la, j'aime bien ton nouvelle Austin"

which roughly translates as "Blinkin flip, I like your new Austin"

Austin ??? ... that's fine by me

Please bear in mind I was one of the first into Australia with one.

I walked out of the pub just after I Bought the car. There were two blokes looking over the mini arguing and were nearly about to have a punch up it was getting that heated. It was over: One bloke beleived it was a restored Classic Mini which I had moddified, while the other bloke was trying to tell him that it was the New Mini. THe first guy was totally convinced it was an original and wouldn't be told otherwise. I even had to show him the compliance plate. Then he finally beleived me.

hehe good post

i don't get many comments, in england there are a lot of small cars so we don't get the whole thing about parking and stuff. i was asked very calmly what his name was, by some school friends, and a girl at work asked if it was "nippy". i was like ummmm yes!!

I went to see one of my good friends that lives several states over awhile ago. When I pulled up, his wife was pulling an Igloo cooler behind her. She points to it and says "look, I have a MINI too" (the cooler was blue with a white top which matched my IB/W MCS I had at the time).

Yesterday when I went out to my car in front of the hotel where my company was having its conference, some guy was looking at my car and scratching his head. He asked if it was the new Honda MINI

GRRRRRR, this really makes me mad

The MINI is wider than a BMW 5 series and plenty of other 'medium' sized cars, so there is no lack of cabin space, legroom etc etc which people assume. Per their respective websites, the MINI measures in at 1925mm from the tip of one wing mirror to the other, while the BMW measures in at just (!) 1846mm. When will people start realising that the MINI is not teeny like the Classic Mini!!!! Granted it is shorter than the BMW 5 etc, but that is the difference between a hot hatch and an exec type car.

Okay, rant over

I made a thread about the comments that people make about the MINI....

It ended up in the form of a poem, I will paste it here

(clears throat....)

A MINI IS ALL I WANT

I do not want a Subaru WRX,
nor a Golf R32;
Or a fully loaded Integra RSX,
even the Civic Type R.

I don't really care about the 0-60 time debate,
or that other cars are faster;
that I could have gotten more horsepower
by getting something else.

I don't think that the MINI is too small
or that I should be more practical
so what if a Hummer2 is more in vogue
or that the MINI fad is now passe

I don't live in an insular world
and I don't refuse to hear other opinions
the MINI has its admirers,
but just as many detractors too.

It's too small, it's too slow, it's unsafe
It's expensive and it's not economical
it's too cute, it's too happy, it's not a real car
I have heard it all, and read it here too.

To me all these negatives are untrue
the MINI is what I wanted, and nothing else
I didn't mark down a checklist and decide on this car
instead it chose me, when I walked in the dealership.

The MINI is more than the sum of its parts
It has history, a legacy, and is a work of art
As long as I can remember I've always wanted a Mini
Now here it is, who cares if it's a BMW MINI?

So to all you naysayers, I say walk on by
I love my MINI, no matter what you might try
Why we love it some will never understand why
But we do, so to you we say goodbye!!!

(bows and walks off stage, hoping no one throws tomatoes )

"You know, if you feed your car, it'll grow."

"Is that the turbo version?"

(upon looking inside) "Oh, it has a lot of space on the inside!"

Hey milliethemini, I had a tomato thrown at my chili red MCS just yesterday! Driving home from work, some b*gger decided he'd colour match the tomato with my paintwork. Luckily for me he was a terrible shot so I sped of laughing towards the nearest grocer to stock up... just in case...
