There's a MINI discussion going on over at the US-centric (and usually quite good) MetaFilter.com. Thread here.

Be warned that it doesn't make for very encouraging reading. Apparently, it's tiny ('hey, it's just as small as a new Beetle!'), looks less-than-macho, will kill you if you so much as look at a wall, is slow, and costs a small fortune. And that's the good stuff.

Not all Americans are as enlightened as our friends and colleagues here, it seems.

It's amazing that these posters can have such an opinion regarding a car that most have not seen in person and probably none have driven one. Most of the comments are positive but a few people seem relatively clueless. A few people mention the WRX. Nice engine and drive train, hideous styling (mostly). Even if I could get over the styling I just can't bring myself to buy a Subaru.

I'm waiting for the MINI. 7 days to my dealer's launch.
