Offline | Dinger, I've had one since last December. Nice unit, graphics are unsurpassed, controls are a bit bulky, very limited game selection. I would say we still use the PlayStation 2 98% of the time. I'm sure that when the selection of games is greater we will be happier with the Xbox. Grand Theft Auto 3 on Xbox will be nice to have It is convenient that it has a hard drive to save games. The PS2 memory card sometimes gets wiped out which is very frustrating. |

Offline | Don't bother, the XBox is only a 32bit 733mhz Intel processor compared to PS2's and Gamecubes 128bit processors. So you're getting ripped off. Might as well save up a bit more and get a PC... Nothing beats Super Famicom and Street Fighter 2 ![]() Hyper Blue/Blue MCSC with Chilli 'No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself' A. Carnegie |

Offline | The X-Box EATS the ps/2 mate. It's almost a PC itself, supports Direct X etc. This is the games machine to KILL all games machines. PC magazines around the world will need to get on board with this, as some already have acknowledged that PC games sales will be hit. The processor speed is only part of the story, that 733mhz processor is dedicated to running games only, and is sophisticated enough for the software writers to use memory, and graphics api's in the way they want to, instead of having a rigid and unflexible approach that the ps/2 takes. Sure the ps/2 is a great machine, but watch as the X-Box takes over......... |

| Moderator & Sponsor | Hmmmm....surely the whole point of the X box is that it is a PC games console )i.e. a hybrid PC/console machine with more clout?.. PC games have been losing out to consoles for years now in terms of sales, so this is Microsoft's way of covering all the bases. Of the games I've seen running on it so far I haven't been blown away by them..in fact I can't see much difference between the box and the PS2 (except that the X box is about as graceful a design as an early 80's betamax VCR.. )I've not played one myself, but every review I've read has said that the controler is pants.. Personally I'm more of a Nintendo fan so I'll be getting a sexy litte cube when they come out, or maybe even one of the Panasonic DVD/Cube machines?.. Remember though, that for every review you read on the net (of either console), their hardware and software has probably cost them at least a third less than it does over here.. ![]() |

Offline | Well I don't like either of the consoles. I bought a PS2 but sold it within a months cos of the lack of games. I remember when the PS2 launched, everyone wanted one and everywhere was sold out! Unlike the XBox which no one wants and most stores still have loads in stock. Shoryuken... Offline | Play nice.......ha ha ha...... Must confess, that I'm a PC bloke myself, but am impressed by the X-Box as a games console. As Dogger has implied there will be a lot more cross porting of X-Box games to the PC and vice versa. One things for sure, Sony will be hurt by it's precence. ![]() |

Offline | From what ive seen its got bags of power, not so sure about the list of games out/coming soon, but, and a very big BUT its £300 plus £30 to get it to play DVD's then another £40 for a game £360 !!!!! £10 more and it pays for my S Spokes with my new mini!!!!. I normally buy every new console that comes out but the X Box will be the exception, as I've already got a decent PC to play FPS etc. Buy a PS2 instead, nows the time lots of decent games coming out soon, plus GT3, Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, Jak and Daxter..... the list goes on plus its £100 less and plays DVD's out of the box. In my opinion the only other console that will rival the PS2 will be the GameCube just wait to see the difference in demand, could be another PS2 situation (but remember the PS2 was released at Christmas) |

| Moderator & Sponsor | Gamecube will be £150 RRP with games at around £35 to start with but expected to drop as competition hots up.. You could probably squeeze a Gamecube onto the dashboard shelf in a MINI to entertain your passengers on long, boring journeys (well the driver has all the fun in a MINI let's face it! )You'd be hard pushed to squeeze an X-box into the boot.. ![]() Maybe they should re-brand it the Ex-Box...? ![]() ![]() |

Offline | That is another reason not to buy an X Box it is bloody huge, and looks like a console from the 80's I suppose looks arn't that important......(as long as you hide it in a cabinet!!) As for the GC install, mmmm sounds interesting.... Kinster, Point noted and agreed!!!! |

Offline | X Box...Well I don't like it. Yes it has nice shinny graphics, but what would you prefer a Mini Cooper or a Clio 172. One is a beautifully built machine with adequate power the other is reasonably built but goes like **** off a stick. For me the PS2 is going to win hands down, the X Box will be there but the PS2 will remain the king of consoles. The PS2 is a beautiful crafted machine, looks the business, you can play DVD's straight from the box, has a superb rang of games (finally) and can now be picked up for £199. The X Box on the other hand it is ugly, clunky, has a nasty controller, has a limited number of games, costs £299 and apparently scratches discs. No I will stick with my PS2 thank you. Oh and the Game Cube, well I hate to say it but I recon it is a bit of too little too late. I recon the delay in its launch in the UK is going to hit sales badly. Alas I feel it is going to suffer a similar fate to the N64. Sad really as I recon it is a much better piece of kit than the X Box. Time will tell if I am right LMB ![]() |
