Aren't MINIs supposed to come with cup holders in front? Note the s on cup holders!!! My MO came with A (Note use of singular term) cup holder and an ashtray. Now I don’t smoke so is there anyway of removing the ashtray and transforming the resulting hole into a second cup holder?

...and yes before anyone try to brush my comment to the side - I know there is a cup holder in the backseat area...

I think you can just pull gently on the ashtray and it should pop out. Pull straight up. It's just an insert, IIRC.

Yeah! Just give it a gentle but firm tug and then fit it in the glove box! Oh, and by the way -- I'm not interested in a Coke vs Pepsi discussion.

When you order the mini it comes with the choice of smokers/non-smokers pack. Smokers pack comes with the ashtray and ciggy lighter, non smokers with just 2 cup holders, and a blank ciggy lighter. The socket is still there but with a blank plug. This is a free option!

That doesn't help you though as you alreay have it. Just lift the ashtray out. The only problem is that the doesn't have the grips on the side.

I never specified the smokers package but got it anyway - maybe its one of the options now standard in 2004 builds?

Anyway, problem sorted - i've removed the ashtray insert and now have twin cups...wahey! b

its a pity they're only for drinks!!

Mine had the grips on the side, even though I had an ashtray. Maybe they just did that on the American models?

no, once i removed the ashtray i found my did have grips. They were a bit squashed but they were there.
