Offline | And not very accurate either. Did anyone else pick up the mistakes and omissions in the story? I guess that he was rushing to meet a deadline, but he should've at least proof-read it. "The Cooper S..(has)..an extra driveshaft bearing. The last I checked that was part of the Pentagon engine design and is also present in the Cooper and Cooper One. (The Cooper S)..its brakes have also been uprated, with larger disks all around. Wrong. All Cooper models have 10.9" front ventilated and 10.2" solid rear disk rotors. Inside..(besides the seats)..there are further leather and stainless steel details. What? Where? I have not seen leather on the dash or console or stainless steel anywhere on a "S". The door pull is chromed however on the "S". The supercharger levels out the torque curve so that its never peaky... Take a look at the BHP/Torque Curve posted by Paul_M in his recent news story and compare it to the much flater torque curve of the standard Cooper in the SuperChips news story. The Cooper "S".....its center of gravity is lower. I think this was discussed in depth in this forum and the concensus was the "S" was 0.3-0.5 inch higher than the standard Cooper. I think Paul_M did a much better and more accurate job reporting the initial media Cooper "S" road tests, than did this "professional" auto journalist! Jerry |
