| The Naughtiest of Birds | It's great when you get a cheery wave back or even better, a flash. People driving in front & behind me get confused when flashes are exchanged between two shiny MINIs. Reactions range from slowing down to the speed limit, other cars flashing (great!), people pulling over to let me past (oops) to the odd middle finger from old Minis (ha ha). It's sooo depressing when MINIs don't flash back though - only cos it makes me feel stoopid. |

| Hiya all i FLASH loads just really sad when no one does it back! saying that i do see some of the peeps every day and its getting a bit silly every day, its like, hi, flash again! yes yes very nice i see ya! hehe however its a lovely feeling when someone waves or flashes and i dont agree with the whole " its an old mini thing" we should be keeping in the spirit of it all and even better it will annoy the hell out of the old mini drivers! SCOOPERMAN ... which way up the M3 do you go everyday and what time? i do the same.. if i see you i shall def wave for sure and did you go on the SCNM farewall run last weekend??! didnt get a chance to go! but i am organising another one real soon! |

Offline | To right it is Mini law. Although I do find Silver Mini's and Mini One's don't flash back a lot. I think old boring people own these types of Minis and totally let the side down. Can any one prove me wrong? If you have a silver one for pity's sake FLASH. I love my Mini so much it's unhealthy! ![]() Bean in the green |

Offline | I flash /wave etc ut the people that dont are just in a world of there own or boring - its not just an old mini thing either VW beetles (the old type) have done this for years - but lets keep it up Mini is unique. I was on the a61 in leeds a few months ago got in the right hand lane and some nissan almera gti was at the front in the left hand lane so Iglanced across ( boy racer -sprang to mind) ofcourse his tyres screeched off the line so i gently accelerated (whilst he was thrashing the u know whats of his amstrad sorry nissan) I pulled into the left hand lane only to see another cooper S he flashed his hazards in a street racer style I simply waved -then he floored it , although I wasnt that far behind him he was rather mad as he was going way above the speed limit bit silly really I wasnt going to race someone on the public highway. |

Offline | I agree that people who drive the new minis nowadays don't as a routine, flash or acknowledge each other in the way that they used to when the new mini first appeared on our roads. I think all the general enthusiasm for flashing/waving has mostly disappeared, which I think is a shame.I have noticed that the problem appears to be more acute in the big cities where other mini drivers don't as a rule wave/flash black which makes you look like a prat. I agree with the sentiments of some MINI2 users that the more mature mini drivers(old dears)in mini ones don't flash back when we flash, probably because they don't share the same view that the mini is not just a car but a life statement (god I can't believe I just typed that...I need help). I think its wise to be selective in your approach to letting on to other drivers to reduce the risk of embarassment. I tend to acknowledge drivers that are younger and have cosmetic mods done to their cars which leads me to believe that they are more likely to be mini obsessed like me. On a positive note the only place in the UK where I get consistently flashed and waved at is.............the Lake District.....which is great!!!!!!!I If you haven't been there in your mini you have to try it out.I suspect the reason for this is that people tend to be more relaxed when they go up to the Lakes at the weekend and hence become generally less inhibited which is the way is should be ...all the time!!!!!!!! |
