| MINI2 Master | Stanley, in the US and Canada, makes a vehicular garage door opener that connects to your high beam circuit. When you 'double-click' your flash-to-pass beams, it opens or closes the door. I installed it (easy) into my Grandmother's 3-Series BMW. It just senses (induction?) the high-beam positive lead with a little cuff, and requires a switched or unswitched 12 volt supply. Quick install with a couple of zip-ties. Worked like magic, and all her neighbours commented. One even got one. Of course, other dolts asked why anyone couldn't just drive up and blink twice. I always thought it was very cool. It was her birthday present to her (always lost the remote) and she loved it. Chilli Red/White Cooper S, Sport Pack & Sunroof. Delivered June 12th, 2002!Now with MCS Winter Tire Package. |

Offline | It's only convenience if you don't have it. If you had it and then do not, it is a downgrade. We are a spoiled bunch and we are used to it. Most fun on 4 wheels. #9 Cooper at Baron KC. June 2002 build. Sport Chili Red/White. |

Offline | Quite frankly, we are ahead of the curve on this "convenience" thing. You Brits are just catching up. Ever used the drive through at McDonalds? Ever been to a Tesco Super Centre? Every been to a DIY? ![]() + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

| MINI2 Master | Yeah, but it can get a little out of control in parts of the US: Drive through Liquor Stores. Drive through Gun Shop (still a 7 day waithing period). Drive up telephone booth. Drive through funeral visitation (specify person at speaker, drive though to curtained off visitation area - but indeed, stay in your car). Drive through wedding chappel. Drive though laundry mat (failed, but it was tried). Prostitution drive through and pick-up. Drive through confession booth (say three hail mary's and step on the gas). Drive through variety stores (CD's, Magazines, Movies) Drive through movie rental. Drive through photo finishing. Granted, some of these are one-of-a-kind, but I guarantee you, they all exist. Did I miss any? Chilli Red/White Cooper S, Sport Pack & Sunroof. Delivered June 12th, 2002!Now with MCS Winter Tire Package. |

Offline | Just for convenience Australia is much the same as the Us in this regard. Remote Gate and Garage door openers, Drive through Bank's etc. The Door & Gate openers are not expensive, and are convenient and also safe if your arriving home late at night. As an englishman living in Oz, i've lived both sides, and from at least this point of view prefer the lifestyle of convenience. Most of the Motels/Hotels have everything button operated from the side table of the bed. Great stuff !!!. OK, I'm a gadget freek. ![]() |

Offline | Re: Just for convenience I like the drive in bottle-shops in Aus (read liquor store/off-licence). They have walk-in beer fridges stacked with cases of beer like some dream manhattan skyline made of ale) And people say Australia is uncivilised... Pah! Cooper S, Jet Black w/ white roof, silver 16" X-Lite wheels, DSC, MFSW, dark tinted windows ...It's here & I love it! |

| MINI2 Master | Yep, this one was on the list - see "drive through funeral visitation." Or were you actually looking for a drop-off window? I purposely left out drive through fast-food, coffee and donuts, because these seem to have gained wide acceptance, nearly everywhere. The "Krispy Kreme" is an alltogether different beast. There is now one Krispy Kreme donuts in Canada. It is in Mississauga, just outside the Toronto. Since it opened, probably some 6 to 8 months ago, there have been line-ups stretching beyond the horizon... There is a heated tent erected for those in line. The drive-through stretches into the distance, down the street. There are police guiding traffic 24 hours a day, but, that because the Krispy Kreme is open 24 hours a day too. Go at 2 am in the morning, and there is apparently a line up. The "hot now" light NEVER goes off. This has got to be the saddest thing I have ever seen. While I'm not entirely happy that Canada has got a global reputation for Beer and Donuts, thanks to the likes of Bob and Doug Mackenzie (The Mackenzie Brothers), some of it is, in part true. There are donut shops everywhere. Tim Hortons, Country Style, Coffee Time, everywhere. So, if people have to line up in 2 hour ques, in idling cars, to get american donuts, this is a sad time. And yes, I have had a hot Krispy Kreme donut. Yes, they are incredible, and WILL take over the world. I'm just not happy about it. (Man, rotten two hour wait, I could go for one now.)
